I\'m looking at getting a smart phone (my first one) and I need some suggestions for a good phone and provider. I\'ve been doing some research and it looks like my best bet for my area is going to be AT&T or Verizon. It doesn\'t look like T-Mobile has coverage in my area, and I\'ve been told by multiple people to avoid Sprint.

As far as phones, I don\'t really need anything with a lot of bells and whistles. Some things that I am looking for are:

Touch screen (would be nice to have a keyboard too)

Expandable memory

Camera/camcorder

GPS would be nice, but it\'s not a necessity

I\'ve found a few that I like, but I don\'t want to get stuck with a piece of junk. Budget is around $100 or so. Any suggestions?

if you can afford it go with verizion. only reason people go with att is cuz of the iphone imho. all of my friends that had att hated it

Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal?

heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked.

i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat

I have a iPhone and I love it. I have been with At&T for years, ever since it was Ameritech, and Cingular. There coverage area is good and the iPhones are amazing. Also AT&T gets tons of new phones in each year.

Make it a poll???

I have found this is based on coverage area, people where I live are on AT&T, Verizon is overpriced, and wont work with you the only thing they got is the Droid which IMO sucks major donkey dick.

My stepdad has it (Blackberry Bold) and doesnt seem to have a problem

I have VZW and LOVE it! I came from Sprint and am NEVER going back! It had spotty coverage and slow 3G

They dont have coverage anywhere. My girl had Tmo and hates it. The only thing she likes is the monthly bill. I wonder why she made sure her phone had wifi...

I would suggest the LG Ally. Its not out yet but based on what you said, I think you'd like it..btw it has Android

Thanks for all the quick replies.

AT&T recently installed a tower in town (we\'ve had HORRIBLE cell coverage for years, rural areas FTL) and now my Tracfone gets full reception even in buildings. I saw lots of people at the high school graduation last week using their phones in the school gym (solid concrete walls).

I just got done talking to a buddy and he said that Verizon\'s coverage in this area is terrible. Looks like I\'ll probably go with AT&T. I\'m not too sure about the iPhone (bandwagon, much?) but a few of their phones I\'ve been looking at are:

Motorola Backflip

HP iPaq Glisten

Blackberry Curve 8520 (although it doesn\'t have a touch screen)

I might up the price and spend a little more, but probably no more than $150.
