MACnonsence6 Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 im wanting to design a 3 way system for my door panels and dash but am having trouble figuring out what i need to do so. the system will consist of a 2" tweater in the dash a 6-1/2mid in the door and a 8" mid-low in the door as well. these are the frequency responces for each driver 2" tweater 300-15k 6-1/2 high mid to middle end 40-3k 8" low end to mild mid 40-4k im not sure how i wana have the cross over i wana make it so each drive is taking care of a frequency that it can with out distortion so im thinking of staying in the middle. like for the tweater have it be allowed to see 400hz to 10k and for the mid let it see 60hz to 2k and for the low 20-120 what do u guys think of my idea as far as what type of cross over to make i still have no idea how to make it within those peramaters thats why im asking here I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

Forevrbumpn Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 What you would want to do is keep the 8" playing bass, and not let that bass interfere with the 6.5" So crossing the 8" from about 350/400hz down to about 100hz would be optimal 6.5" about 350/400hz up to the tweeters low end But a electronic cross over would be best to test with first if you are not planning on making crossover boards yourself, which can be more expensive to make sometimes than buying electronic crossovers I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
MACnonsence6 Posted May 30, 2010 Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 i can get relativly cheap cross overs off ebay but idk how well they would sound I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha.
