Dr. Winn
What exactly is ohms, i know its a measurement of resistance, but if i get two p1 should i get 4 or 8 ohm?
djdew23
it depends how you want to wire them.but normaly 8ohm is home audio and 4ohm is car audio Quote Alpine IDA-X200 Car Digital Media Receiver AMP = power acoustik cpt1 2200d SUBS = 3 re audio 10" voodoo fuse and distribution blocks Voodoo Power Wire Voodoo RCA Leads
Reallunacy
It depends on a few things. Normally it is cheaper to run subs with lower ohms because the amp will do higher wattage at lower ohms.
fr34kout
To answer that question we kind of need to know what amp you're going to be running. The best bet is to choose the subs you want (in this case 2 p1's) and find an amp you want to use to power it that matches the RMS ratings. Then when you find the amp, find out what ohm load it puts out the power you want and order your subs coil config based on that. If you got the 4 ohm subs you could wire them in parallel for a 2 ohm load, almost any amp should be able to handle this. If for SOME reason you buy an amp that can only handle a 4 ohm load, then you will need to get the 8 ohm subs and wire them in parallel. Dr. Winn
this is helpful, but it looks like i have found cheaper p2 12s at 2ohms. so an amp that can handle 2 ohms?

You could run 2 d2 p2's in a series-parallel config for a 2 ohm load, or if you want you could run 2 d4 p2's in a parallel config for a 1 ohm load. It will probably be cheaper to find am amp that puts out the power you want at 1 ohm vs 2 ohms.
chapo123
if you wire them together you can get a 2 ohm load or if you wire them sepreatly you can only do 1 or 4 ohms each Quote Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal? heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history.
