Alpine Type R amp selection

I have a pair of 12" dual 4ohm alpine type r's and two MRP 500's that I have running indapendantly at 2 ohm's.

My question is what would hit harder and cleaner? One PDX 600 at 4ohms or one crossfire 1000 at 1ohm or just keep my mrp 500's at 2ohms

You need at least 1000RMS to have the Type Rs hit hard they are 500RMS each

Ehhh alright finaly some insight lol. I thought mono amps give the full wattage to each sub??? Your saying a 1000rms amp will only feed 500 whats to each not the full 1000? Sorry I'm a bit of a n()()b haha thanks for the input though

a 1000w amp to 2 subs would give each sub 500w. 4 subs on a 1000w amp would give each sub 250w and so on. look for an amp that does 1000-1500rms at 1 ohm and you should be set. brands to look at if you dont know any are Sundown Audio, Rockford Fosgate and Audioque (i cant think of any other nicely built amplifiers other than those ATM)

yep. 1000watts rms would give 2 subs 500rms each. honostly i thought it meant 1000rms per sub too before lmao and plus one amp at 1000rms would prob draw less amps then 2 amps.

Wow al kinds of input now haha SWEET!!! Ok that helps alleviate some of my confusion on wattage distribution. I have two MRP 500's that I picked up for cheap but I also have an old fried VR1000 that CF can repair for $150. I would be @ 1ohm with both wired in parallel right? Maybe I should sell my 500's and repair my VR. What amp would you guys sugjest for these subs in a 2cu ft transmission vented box? I was looking at the jbl 1400 but I can't remember if it's 1ohm stable? I should also mention that these are the 4th gen Type R's and there rated for 600rms. I've heard of people giving the 3rd gens that are rated for 500 like 700-1000 watts w/o any problems?

I looked at the JBL 1400 mono. It's not 1ohm stable but it's pretty damn potent at 4ohms with 1200 watts. I would have 600 to each but i think they can handle more. I'll keep looking for a 1200-1500 watt amp thats 1ohm stable. What would be the pro/cons on 4ohm vs 1ohm?

I would look into the sundown audio saz-1000d or the saz-1500d. Both are 1 ohm stable and put out generous amounts of power, the 1500d might be a bit much though.

They look like great quality thats for sure. If I could afford it I would get the 1200D V.2, but I'm in the budget of like $300-350 range. You think since I already have the VR that it would be more practical to just have it repaired since I would save $150-200.
