hey whats up i tried to make cliff notes for this one but i could not get them to make sence... anyway here goes i have a 2008 infiniti g37s coupe.. just bought it at the end of december 09 and the first thing i did after rims of course was the radio.. i loveeeeeeeeeeee bass but nothing that overboard.. so i got one 12" kicker L7 a kenwood 1800 mono amp and a 2.5 cap

first of all the box barley fit in the trunk and i actually had to take off certain parts of the instide trunk finisher.. ok so now the amp is hooked up and so is the cap... the raido sounded awesome.. and i was happy with it so i paied... but here comes the bummer... turns out it sounds gread when i have on a cd or my ipod.. but when i switched it on to the radio ... whoaaaaaaaaaa it sounded like pure crap.. i had the bass in the factory eq ( the little one that controls bass treble and balance and fade.) also the gain was all the way down and i had the fade all the way up to the front speakers only.. and there was still way to much bass.. so after 963 bucks later i took it out..... turns out my infiniti head unit does not have rca imputs.

so is there anyone out there who could help me with what i need to prevent that problem... a line converter... something else... i dont know and when i go in the store they will say yea yea thats what you need buy it when they have no idea if it will work or not....i am looking to put new radio in my car but this time i am gonna do my homework and make sure i have the good stuff so i dont have that issue again... i am gonna but in ether 2 10" kicker L7 or 2 10" JL audio w8 with the proper amp to push thenm,so please if anyone has had this happen before or is educated in this departmeant please help me and give me your advice

I'm pretty sure grammar and punctuation would help this thread a ton.

But anyway, the way I read it, the speaker outputs from the HU were hooked up to the amps RCA inputs? But that wouldn't explain why iPod and CD mode sound good. What did the radio sound like? distorted, crackly etc?

Also, just cause it is faded to the front doesn't mean it is faded off the sub, the sub can have a separate output and separate settings.

Not much point in the cap, they would have sold you that to get themselves more monies, they like their monies . The cap is pretty much pointless once it has given the little power it had stored, in fact, a 1 farad cap holds about as much energy as one of those little 9v batteries. and they sure as heck won't help a amp too much if you are playing music.

Next bit of advice, it's up to you, but for the price of those subs you are thinking of (especially the w7 10"s), you could get a far better sub that will last longer and sound better. And also, you will get flamed if you get the JL subs, simply because they are so expensive.

Now don't take me wrong but I still want a thumpin radio I don't know about farad caps. I thought they protect your battery and alternator a little bit so that's why I asked what would I need to make the subs work in sync with everything else like it came from the factory thanks for noticing my puncatTion and the w7'or w8 which ever one I pick sound great that's my opinion soooo what you think can help?

I'm pretty sure there is some way to fix it but without knowing how it is wired it is tricky.

But yeah, saying they protect it a bit is correct, but the 'bit' that they protect it by is so small that your alternator and battery wouldn't notice a difference.

They should work in sync without delay as all electricity travels at the same rate, but as long as the gains are all set correctly and the sub and speakers are all controlled by the same knob, they should stay at a similar level the whole way (unless the equipment is strangely made).

Before I fitted new doors speakers and a 2 channel amp I also had troubles with getting levels to match, mainly because the stock amp had no gain knob, meaning that it couldn't be adjusted to work better with the subwoofer. So unless your factory amp has a gain knob, new door speakers and a new amp should fix your problem about it being unbalanced.

I don't think there is a w8, but I'm not sure, whatever it is there is still better for the same price, you could get a nice DC, DD, Fi etc. for the price of a w7 10" and a damn amazing one or even two of them for the price of the w7 10"s. In the end it is up to you, but just have a open mind to what is out there.

if you have a g37 get away from kicker and go better.... that might solve a few problems
