Maybe I'm stupid, but I fuse for the size of wire at the battery. 120 amp fuse or so at battery in ur fuse holder. Then ur fuses in ur amp protect it. U don't want to put a smaller size at the battery than u have at the amp. Like feeding a fire hose with a straw. U limit the end result.

Correct but the wire has to be able to handle the current aswell, Never fuse over what the wire can handle.

To the OP, Check your coils with a DMM and see what they read, sounds to me like the coil on the "blown" one came un-coiled.

fuse holders usually melt because the fuse gets so hot it melts the plastic casing. this can be caused by running rated power, or close to, through a fuse. example: pulling 50 amps of current through a 50 amp fuse. i hope you put a fuse in the fuse holder that matches the size of the total fuse amount on the amp.

either its that that caused the melting, or a short on the power wire SOMEWHERE along the run of wire.

edit: jl_audio reminded me of something. if the wire isnt tightened down STRONG on the fuse holder on both ends, resistance will cause the wire to heat up alot.

Totally agree :good:
