Yes, the expensive ones are tuned to around 20hz. And most home made home theater subs are tuned to as low as the creator can tune. Some are around 14-16hz. I personally didn't hear a 5hz tone, but the signal has been analyzed and there was content found as low as 5hz, whether you can put enough 18"s in your room to make it loud enough to hear is a different story. Or you could just buy a rotary sub, but they are like $25,000.
