Correct me if i'm wrong or not, i was checking out a guys amp, did some DMM readings,

playing some test tones at 50 hz

subs were wired down to 1 ohm

13.2 volts 49 acv

by this calculation its only putting out 647 watts per sub or both subs together i'm lost on this...

any help would be appreciated...by the way i don't have a clamp meter... so i'm doing a rough est...

If it was from a monoblock, it's total power from that amp (both subs)

then explain to me how is it possible this amp ( which is a monoblock) putting out 647 watts and bang the shit out of his kickers cvx's with little power??? its a 2200 watt rms rated at 1 ohm... why is it not putting out like 1500 which is what the subs are rated at rms together.. i'm so damn confused....

just because you set the amp to output 1500rms or something doesnt mean the woofers will get that all the time. impedance rise from the box makes the woofers see less power. this is always a variable since the woofers move all the time. hook a dmm up to any speaker and push down on the cone and see the meter jump around, this is what the amp sees CONSTANTLY. so having a 1 ohm load can jump up to 5 ohms on some notes.

its a power acoustik just like the one i got, i was thinking of getting another one.. so i wanted to check out the current flow... i'm stunned... irritated.. lol

oh yea and if its this amp, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_14907_Power+Acoustik+BAMF-2200-2+-BAMF2200-2-.html

80 amps of fusing, times that by 14.4v (from your car) that equals 1152 watts...at 100% efficiency. so take 1152 watts and times it by the average efficiency of a class AB amp (about 60%) so 1152*.6 = 691wrms. so thats how much the amp CAN output at a perfect 14.4v.
