herbykw Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 I just got a American Bass VFL 500.1 It has a remote gain knob. all the other amps I've had were all bass boost knobs. here is my question, while trying to tune it in a little better on a o-scope it seems anytime i move the remote knob just a little it starts clipping really easy. how does this work? if i set the gain on the amp at 1/2 then turn the remote knob up, is the over all gain limited to the amp setting(1/2)? cause otherwise what would be the point of having the amp and remote gain? does one over ride the other? is it just safer and easier to run the amp without the knob? skittlesRgood Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 the max setting on the remote knob will the the gain setting on the amp, where you set it to. you cant go past it, you can only cut power. set the gain with the remote all the way up.
