chapo123 Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 okay so i just got my box for my 18btl and its like 4 something cubes (dont remember) lol and i want to put my 12 btl in it to have some thump for the mean time until i can save up for the 18 recone. box is tuned to 33hz for the 18 and i want to do this for shits and giggles since its getting reconed anyway.. i know the sub might fall apart from being in a huge box but its not even seeing alot of power. alot of people said make a little baffle over the 18 hole and use a 12 cutout but theres a beauty panel and it wouldnt fit. so how would i do this without making a 2nd baffle over the hole? i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work? lol again this is just for shits and giggles Steve I don't know why but everytime I see your new paint I want a Dr. Pepper...... is this normal? heres an analogy for you. running a high power stereo without a fuse is like having unprotected sex with that hot chick at the bar with the sketchy sexual history. Sure you may be fine and nothing happens but that one time something does happen you're fucked. i dont want woofer broke like bass sound clip clip and voice coil overheat 2 sa12s, saz1500 build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/91183-chapo123s-sundown-build-log/page__gopid__1250604entry1250604

EricR Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks for the new sig i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
cubs_fan0718 Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 how would it ruin the box? i know it would prob ruin the sub from being in a huge box but its getting reconed anyway. i only saw the top have of ur question didnt read the bottom, but i think that it would be pointless to duct tape ur box. that and putting that sub in that box would destroy the sub. But if you wanna spend the time to watch something get ruined not very long after at least make a vid. 06 Impala SSKenwood Excelon DDX593 Ampere Audio 150.4 Ampere Audio 5K1 XS D4700 (front)Mechman 320a Alt. w/ Big 3 Lots of Second Skin Damplifier Under Construction for 2017
jagblazer01 Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 i really think your only option is to do a second baffle if your hell bent on putting the 12 in that box Team Sundown Audio / Team XS Power / Team SHOK SMD Super Buyer/Sellerwww.sundownaudio.com www.shokindustries.com www.4xspower.com www.excessiveamperage.com
Slawsen Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 take a piece of mdf or w/e ...make the 12" cutout...attach sub to that ..attach that to the box.
