spl4life Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 usually the higher the better... but there is a limit... some amps dont like high preamp voltage... higher preamp voltage means that there is stronger signal goin to the amp... higher voltage is good if you plan on running more amps than you have preamp outputs... example... you have 3 sets of pre amp out from your HU... (1)Front (2)Rear and (3)Sub but you have 3 amps... 1 4ch amp for Front and rear(2 sets).. and 2 sub amps... total of 4 sets of Preamp outs... its better to have a HU with 4 volts pre amp out rather then 2volts... thats why people with several amps... then need a line driver/signal booster...
