270xp alt whine

I've got my alt whine that lasted only 6 seconds. I started engine and alt whined for 6 seconds then stopped. It does that every time I start engine. I think it has been like this for a few months. Should I be ignoring it?

I have 1/0 wire from alt to battery and good ground too.

Sounds like belt slip. Have you checked your belt?

Thanks for quick reply kyle. The thing about my engine is that it has only 3 grooves on the crankshaft and I had to remove the 5 grooves pulley on the 270xp and put the old stock 3 grooves pulley on the 270xp. I think it's a main problem with belt slip. The belt is pretty tight right now. Any solution?

edit: The alt belt is brand new when I installed 270xp.

Try to find a gates racing belt with the same size. take off the needed grooves. Or a Greenback will do. That's your problem unfortunately.

All right. I'll try gates belt then. It look like custom made 5g crankshaft is doable but it takes a lot of time and money.

I took the alt out of my 4runner. It turned out that the bearing(possible brush, something like that) is wore out because it made a squeak noise.
