pheint_1 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Alright so i was thinking some things over and started getting really confused, so here are my questions? 1. if you have an external crossover before the amp and you set your frequencies to your desired tastes, what happens to the crossovers on the amp? should you adjust according to the external crossover or is there some type of cancellation of some sort lol??? 2. what is the correct term for bi-amping, i thought i knew but just re-read some stuff and got all confused i thought it meant using two amps for the different drivers as in one amp for the mids and another for the highs???? any help is greatly appreciated guys, thanks. bassl0va Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 thx for the input man, i had just thought to leave the crossovers as they were thought the electronic crossover before the amp cancelled them out , and yea i still don't have a strong hold on that bi-amping term guess ill have to research some more. thx again. well, bi-amping, you pretty much split before the amp/s rather than after. say you are powering some components, you can run it the standard way, have a single amp and the crossovers go between the amp and the speakers, and split the signal there. The best way to do it is bi-amping, you have the signal go into an active crossover/processor then the seperate tweeter/mid signals come out of that and each speaker has a separate channel of the amp. So if you want to run say a set of components in the doors, doing it the standard way with the passive crossover only needs a 2 channel amp, doing it with bi-amping would require a 4 channel.
