Can I run my Amp at 2ohm on a 4ohm SUB?

Recommended Posts

If its dual 4 ohm, you shouldnt have any problem running it at 2 ohms just hook + to +, - to - on the sub, then run + from sub to + on amp and - on sub to - on amp

Just wondering if I could run my amp a 2ohms on an Alpine Type R 4ohm version. Or am I better off with the 2ohm version?

Link to amp? If the sub is single 4 ohm, then it will only run on a 4 ohm load.

750 Watt x 1 RMS @ 4 Ohms

1100 Watt x 1 RMS @ 2 Ohm

1800 Watt x 1 RMS @ 1 Ohm

Check out my first ever aftermarket purchase!

Should be ok, but I would be careful with setting gains, the type r's are only rated 500 watts rms I believe

Ahh dang I forgot to say Im going to be running two Type R's. So I'd say if I ran it at 2ohms, they should be getting just around the right RMS.

If youre running both at the same time, 2 dual 4 ohm subs cant be wired to 2 ohms, its either 1 ohm or 4 ohm
