FiNaLaLmAsY
Hey all, wasn't sure on what to put for the title but any who here is my question. i am running Two Old-school Soundstream Rubicon 1002's Bridged at 1.2ohms per amp. And 2 Soundstream SPL12-4's. So 1 Amp per sub. if anyone knows about these amps there well underrated lol. here is my question. what is the "BEST" way in anyone's opinion to wire these amps to get them decently in sync together. i have always hooked up 1 amp with a "DMM" bridged and ran it about 70volts with a 60Hz test tone and the LOUD on the HU turned off. then i would run the OUTPUT off that amp and then a RCA connector and ran it to the other amp on the "RIGHT INPUT (BECAUSE ITS BRIDGED)" and then DMM Test that one to equal the same 70volts. is this right? idk to me sometimes it seems like 1 sub never fired quite the same. so i just redid it tonight and hooked up 1 amp with the Right Sub input wire to a "Y CONNECTOR" then ran that to each amp on the right channel. i have not tested it because its a little late and will tomorrow morning but is this the correct way to do it? or if someone has a better idea. to rule out running just 1 amp as a option, i have tried running a SS RUB2500.1D and yes they fired perfect on both subs but let me tell u there's no power or SQ compared what im running so im sticking with the 2 amps. my last question on the topic is setting up my gains i use to run a 60HZ test tone LOUD OFF 70volt gain bass boost on the amp like 1/2 way and always sounded amazing. i just tried a 45hz test tone same options and setup on the amp in who's opinion is the best test tone to setup one of these old amps. thanks, nick 02 Nissan Sentra 4 DD 3500g 10's Crescendo Audio 3500 @ .5ohms Soundstream EGA4220 Fronts German Mestreo 6.5 Component Set 110Rms Rears RE XXX 6.5 Component Set 2ohms 220RMS 1 Dyralast Gold 1000Amp Battery 1 Vmax 2000amp Battery DC Power Inc 270XP Amp Alternator BIG 3 Upgraded All 1/0AWG Setup 8 1/0 Awg Runs
Rebel4055
Bass boost off. Never use it unless you have a oscope. Also what HU you got. And another question, what do you mean by not firing right? That to me sounds MAYBE like a phase issue. Rest In Peace mother. FiNaLaLmAsY
the old soundstream amps use the HAWKINS BASS CONTROLLER with Bass-boost and subsonic not a SUBSONIC u can switch between both of them but i love the SQ from this one. so bass boost is needed i do not have any distortion. and by firing yes seems like 1 speaker is not getting the same amount of power this amp does not have a PHASE switch. HU- Alpine 9886 Specs on AMP From PDF Sub Sonic Filter: No boost, High Pass filter from 13 to 30 Hz. Hawkins Bass Control: 0 to +9 dB Boost; Boost and Sub Sonic filter, variable from 30 to 70 Hz. http://www.soundstream.com/manuals/AMP/rubican/rub30220/rub30220.pdf and this is another reason i run that controller and bass boost pulled from the pdf The Boost control adjusts the amount of level applied at the set frequency, and is adjustable from 0 to +9 dB When the boost is set to 0( i run about 1/2 way out of 9), Hawkins Bass Control acts as a sub sonic filter only. The simple act of removing potentially harmful low frequencies can improve system output by as much as 3 dB 02 Nissan Sentra 4 DD 3500g 10's Crescendo Audio 3500 @ .5ohms Soundstream EGA4220 Fronts German Mestreo 6.5 Component Set 110Rms Rears RE XXX 6.5 Component Set 2ohms 220RMS 1 Dyralast Gold 1000Amp Battery 1 Vmax 2000amp Battery DC Power Inc 270XP Amp Alternator BIG 3 Upgraded All 1/0AWG Setup 8 1/0 Awg Runs
