Not necessarily... Have you tried hooking up an iPod with a headphone jack to RCA cable to the amp? Does your deck have a way that the subs could be turned off? Is the amplifier outputting AC voltage from the speaker terminals? I had an amp get too hot (not clipping) but just got too hot being black in the Tucson summer sun and it managed to desolder its output terminals from the board without frying anything. AmplifiedAddiction Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 did you put the multimeter to the subs to check the coils? i had a similar problem, tensils had come loose, it played for a little longer then cut out entirely like yours
