Distance from port to inside wall

Recommended Posts

So right now im designing my new box, want to build new box. My dilemma is, im using 2 6" aero ports. My box is 24" tall, my port length is 17", but with both flares attached the total length of it is 18". That only leaves 5.25" from the wall to the start of the flare. is this ok? I know your suppose to leave 6" from the wall using a 6" port. But the port doesn't tech. start until inside the flare a bit, if that makes sense.

how i got that is. 24" tall, minus .75" for the bottom of box, then 18" port.

I want the ports to be flush, so just adding .75 isnt easy. The tuning will give me 34.5hz

If the ports arent glued together, assuming they came in 2-3 pieces, couldnt you just cut .75"-1" off then glue them together? Will raise the tuning frequency some but I doubt it would be noticeable

You shouldnt have a big problem with it, but if you do have any port noise you can just shave off that extra .75 inch. with that little port area and the sa 12s you will still be able to get the lows and youll most likely only raise .5 to 1hz
