Read up online what it is and what it does but what would be the symptoms of it being clogged or dirty? I'm doing a bit of maintenance on my car (1995 chevy lumina the car) and since a PCV is cheap I was going to change it.

I was also going to get some http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/LCO0/10512.oap?keyword=fuel+injection+cleaner to clean the throttle body. I really don't want to pull the throttle body out to clean it.

This car also has high idle, I'm cleaning the throttle body with that injection cleaner to hope to solve the high idle. I already changed the IACV but that didn't change anything.

PVC recirculates the unburnt gas vapors back into the engine to be burned, if its clogged or ditry it can cause rough idle. MAF sensor clean that and clean the EGR valve. have u checked the TPS see if it working right?

Alright sometimes when I strart the car it has a really rough idle like it wants to stall. Could that be the pcv? Also how do you check the maf,egr and the tps.

The easiest way to check the pcv valve is to remove it and shake it. If it rattles it is still good. It has a check valve in it to allow air to pass thru it. The TPS can be checked with a dmm as it is controlled by voltage and is adjusted with the car on but not running. Just do a search on what your TPS voltage should be and set it accordingly by moving the sensor itself.

Also the check engine light comes on after about 3 minutes AFTER I start the car up. I tried reading the code with the paper clip method but it didn't work.

I'm in the car right now I checked the pcv and I heard and seen the little thing shake inside. I can't figure out how to test the tps. I got my dmm just don't know where to insert the probes

this should help. Check the voltage on the TPS with ignition switch ON, engine off. You should have 5.0v on the Grey wire with variable voltage on the blue depending on throttle opening. (Black is ground)

You have that obdI lumina right?

Chances are you need to do an idle relearn.

Not for sure what a obdI is? Please explain lol. And please explain the idle relearn?

Also today we changed out the rad and doing so I had to remove the air box and I realized there had or is oil in the air boxes tube going to the intake? What could that be caused from?
