MACnonsence6
k the money i orignally was gona drop on an extreamly bass ass gaming computer i ended up getting another car with. so being that i still need a computer. so first off i have a few questions what is better a pentium d 3.0 and a core 2 duo 3.0 im thinking about buying this desktop http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Optiplex-745-DC-XP-CDRW-DVD-DESKTOP-3-0GHz-1GB-RAM-/120676886739?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item1c18e728d3#ht_1344wt_1139 with this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138142 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220279 and 2 of these^ now what im trying to do is build a cheap computer that i can use for gaming atleast for the games i play anyone plus i want to try overclocking and i think this would be a good build to start. basicly what im looking for is advice and can someone explain fsb to me i looked it up but im trying to make sure i understand it now with that mother board the fsb is 1333/1066MHz now are those numbers the highest it can go? from what i understand you raise your fsb and voltage to overclock your cpu. if im completly wrong someone please tell me im pretty much just buying that desktop for the cpu and drive and case i have another hdd ill be using with it Quote I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.
STEvil
If you want easy overclocking then an i5 2500K or i7 2600K on a P67 motherboard is the easiest way to go. Bump voltage a tad, crank multiplier. Cant be easier. Overclocking on LGA775 requires some playing with chipset to memory FSB strap ratios, if the board you choose even has them. Also you need to consider a GPU since an integrated G3100 is a piece of crap. The GPU built into the i5 2500K/i7 2600K is much better, but only enabled with an H67 chipset motherboard (and the H67's overclock very poorly). If you can save up and wait until the Z68 chipset boards are released then you will have good overclocking as well as integrated GPU use. Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.
