  1. You wouldn't tell me anything...I see this stuff every day. I'm just trying to save you money from doing something dumb to begin with...or prevent you from doing something dumb.. Somebody sees somebody else put tons of power to a speaker on a youtube video or the internet and they automatically assume that they can do it. There's a learning curve to this stuff...and thanks to the internet and the wonderful youtube people are completely missing it and going from getting a learners driving permit at 15 or 16 years old and jumping straight into a top fuel car expecting they can drive it..because they saw somebody else do it on the internet.
  2. Just because you watched a video on youtube of a funny car running 4.10 seconds in 1/4 mile at 312mph does it mean you can do it? No..you'll get in it, poop your pants in the first 30 feet and put it in the wall. The internet gives a false sense of security for WAY too many people...I don't condone running that much power. There's a reason that they have a 2kw RMS rating. Aside from that you are going to have to run some sort of external subsonic filter because the rockford amps have a filter at 25Hz at 12dB/octave... Basically means it's worthless if you tune your enclosure any higher then 28Hz. When you play below port tuning frequency the sub is basically in a 'free air' application at that point..and you are throwing 4kw at it free air. You'll then complain because 'these subs suck they broke'...when in all reality speakers are stupid and do what you tell them to do in the environment that you put them in. Speakers breaking is a very rare occurrence...people breaking speakers..not so much. I wouldn't run that much power if I were you.
  3. I hope you ground that red paint back off of the glue joints of that basket or odds are you are going to be getting another recone...glue and paint aren't friends.
  4. He has a tracking number at the email from UPS quantum view (not from us) with his tracking information...it went via UPS...quite some time ago. If he's emailed then we haven't gotten it...if you email with random numbers on a paypal transaction that does no good at all what so ever. If you do not put a subject line in the email it goes straight to a spam folder...if you have an email that is "imtoosexyforyourmommasphatbutt @ hotmail.com "..it goes straight to a spam folder Email me his information and i'll go through the system tomorrow...also email it to [email protected] as well. The sub left long ago and he has tracking information to whatever email he provided upon ordering.
  5. Web guy got a few new shirts and the hats up...he's working on the beanies and a few other things as well. Got a long sleeve shirt too
  6. Relax.. The world isn't going to stop spinning. 100 of them aren't going to go in 3 days. We've had meetings and thousands of things going on with very little sleep for the greater part of this week. I'm sure there will be an official announcement when everything is 100% with parameters released and everything.
  7. It won't. It is just a very difficult assembly to put together properly. We'll see how things go, but in all honesty I have my doubts if they could/will be sent out. If we can figure a way to make it easier then sure.
  8. Recone kits will likely not be sent out. They are very very very complicated to put together and unless you build speakers everyday it would be very difficult for you to do so.
  9. 15's and 18's for now.. After 1st quarter we will take a look at how things are going and consider either a 22 or a 12...but that is not promising anything.
  10. No.. We made steves like we did for a reason. This way we can physically 'see' what is going on. If everything is covered up you cannot see how things are working. Production will have spaced spiders and everything as it should including the motor support out the back. If we do that on steve's subs then we do not learn anything from it...thus is why steve is doing more in car testing...ie: he has prototypes. as he has explained in the videos and the thread... An order will not be taken for anything until we feel completely comfortable with it.
  11. Nope...the final version will not be made until we see how the ones steve has does over a period of time in his install. His currently do not have spaced spiders on them...and you can also see the tinsel leads. No point in taking the parameters from those as they would be different.. We learn how things work in an install from him and if adjustments need to be made...prior to production.
  12. Glad you like them we'll see how the Palms likes them in a few weeks lol. We've got a record of getting thrown out of the outside of SEMA via Foose and his camera crew ...we'll see if we can keep that one going.
  13. Rise is totally dynamic on music...and not relevant if you are doing nothing but playing music as he does
  14. Doubt it... Kind of goes against the brand separation thing
  15. Sure..if you want to pay retail...and to be honest with you that's not going to be cheap. None are available to anybody until the 1st. We've got to make sure that the way we put Steve's together is fine, as he said earlier they are different from what the final ones will be because we want to watch the suspension and see how it works along with the leads.. Production will have spaced spiders on them .
  16. Dealers can not keep woofers with "Options" so there will be no options at all on these. You choose 15 or 18 and D1 or D2 coil. Price range will be determined later in January when they are available to order from dealers.
  17. Go put the BTL parameters in WinISD and model it...and build the enclosure it suggests...then come back and explain why it does not sound good There will be guidelines set for enclosures for the woofers. I'm leaning towards smaller ported boxes for these as it seems to work very well in Steve's truck...it is also easier on suspension and soft parts when people start stacking power on these things. Also, it is NOT an SPL sub...it goes against the grain of the design philosophy of making something nobody else has made and make it very very musical AA simply will NOT make an 'SPL' sub...so something hitting the lanes this year is far from the goal. They will be available through dealers to order on January 1st.
  18. No pricing or anything will be released until they are available to dealers on January 1st for ordering. I believe this is something that a typical dealer will simply not stock other then 1 piece for a show room type deal...they will likely be special order. Ballpark figure on a "RMS" is probably around 3kw. We are not a fan of giving a 7 year old a can of gas and a pack of matches and expect them to not set anything on fire...so we are not about to rate something at 7kw..that is just asking for trouble and is nothing but a marketing ploy for ego stroking
  19. Promising SPL gain is like handing somebody "winning" lottery or Keno numbers...it is the effect of a random event in a period of time. Better yet..a crap shoot. You can only say given variable X in this scenario it is ____dB louder, and make note that THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN ANOTHER INSTALL. (It is a random event in a given data set) This is nothing different then something outside of the "I have more motor strength" war. More motor strength does not mean something will be inherently 'louder' across the board. You get to a point of marginal returns..where your score suffers dearly from more motor strength. If you can safely put 200 horse power down via the drive train and your p185 series tire. Do you need a 8500 horse power top fuel drag engine to daily drive in? Or do you need that 200 horse power? The 4 cylinder 200 horse power car will outrun the 8500 horse power car with the same tires...because the 8500 horse power car will never put even the 200 horsepower to the ground because it will do nothing but blow the tires loose...because you cannot control it. Simple physics and geometry...it comes from experience...ultimately you learn from mistakes.
  20. Just a little heads up, as I could really care less and do not have a dog in the fight. If one were to post pictures of such thing on the internet, and a second party making it known that person A is waiting for a patent (indicating that it is not pending)...and if person A does not have a patent number pending already...it just shot person A's objective of getting a patent straight in the foot. It is now public knowledge...and you can not patent it. One would hope that person A has a pending number, in that case what is it..because the drawings would be available on uspto.gov...thus person A would have no reason to try to hide anything as he would be protected under the pending number until the patent is granted. Although anybody could make and use that technology while it is still 'pending'..and stop immediately as the real patent number is issued with out infringing on the patent. With love, The guy who had one too many business law courses. Edit: Tommy is nothing short of correct on all counts except the cone area comment, radiating cone area is the same regardless of shape, and for everybody that forgot what 9th grade geometry is...material does not matter and is completely irrelevant. Everything relies on the shape. Or for the "Engineers" in the room...freshman year introduction to mechanical engineering class when you go back to study...you guessed it. Geometry.
  21. Relax...your order has been processed, some tracking numbers have not been generated as a few members of the office staff have been out. Many were generated and sent via UPS quantum view yesterday. The remainder should be done today.
  22. Working on it..ran into some issues.
