    did you try holding the original right against the ignition while using the spare key??

    Ive heard before if its the like transmitter in the key that you can mount just that part near the ignition and use the regular keys. I know you can get them made for the doors. but it depends on the type of Key you have. like the VATS keys just have a resistor but the other kind which is what im thinking you have is like a sensor. So best bet is to just try it get one made for the doors and see what happens when you try it with the other key on the ignition too. if the makes any sense at all. if you had a pic of the key it tell me what you have got. when i worked at Ace alot of people had this problem and one guy did what im trying to explain.
