  2. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blo...lou-albano.html Legendary pro wrestling manager Captain Lou Albano died this morning, MTV.com is reporting. Albano, who was sent home from the hospital earlier this week and place under hospice care, was 76 years old. Albano is best known to non-wrestling fans as the father in Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" video. That helped kick off the Rock 'n Wrestling connection that launched the then-WWF to national prominence in the 1980s.

  7. http://www.cnbc.com/id/31063919 UFC Orders A Slice Of Kimbo Published: Tuesday, 2 Jun 2009 | 10:41 AM ET Text Size By: Darren Rovell Sports Business Reporter Dale H. Cotton (hingephoto.com) The UFC prides itself on real fighting, but that doesn’t mean that the mixed martial arts organization isn’t in a constant search for characters. That’s why UFC president Dana White buckled and gave Kimbo Slice a chance to associate himself with White’s organization as part of a deal that will put him on Season 10 of Spike’s Ultimate Fighter. White has previously bashed Slice (real name: Kevin Ferguson), whose made his name through street fighting videos on YouTube, for not having a full complement of skills. But instead of continuing to knock down Slice, who has been out of work since Elite XC went out of business, White made what I think was the necessary move by putting Slice on the show that develops UFC talent. How big is Slice? Well, Elite XC was not a viable business, but I thought that if Kimbo Slice could continue to win - which he didn’t - he single-handedly could have kept the league alive. Current champion Brock Lesnar, who used to wrestle in the WWE, is a great face for the UFC, but it’s undeniable that there’s no current fighter that has the makeup of Kimbo Slice. Could there be a better name? Is there anything better than the disheveled black beard and the good teeth? And the back story of being homeless, of being a porn star security guard, of his Internet fights? I agree that Kimbo Slice has to learn to fight and I understood White’s original objection to associating his premium brand with Slice and turning it into a circus act. But White also knows that just because the UFC isn’t the WWE, doesn’t mean that that they can’t take advantage of a free agent who many feel at least looks like the ultimate barbarian. Questions? 8. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Cocaine-W...exas-Beach.html A stroll on a Texas beach led to the discovery of 24 neatly wrapped cocaine packages that apparently washed ashore. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department was working with federal agencies Wednesday to try to determine the source of the 53 pounds of cocaine, worth about $500,000. KFDM-TV reports the now-confiscated cocaine was discovered Tuesday several miles west of Sea Rim State Park, in the Sabine Pass area along the Bolivar Peninsula. Lt. Troy Tucker said some people were looking for debris that washes ashore, such as metal, when they came across the cocaine. Names of the finders weren't released. Tucker said smugglers have been known to use freighters to haul cocaine, and "maybe a Coast Guard cutter or marine police got too close and they kicked it over." Copyright Associated Press

  10. When our Dustin Chase asked how he could throw a baby out the window, McTear responded "It's a dirty game." http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa...a.211ea57c.html TAMPA, Fla. -- A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police said he snatched up his ex-girlfriend's 3-month-old son during a fight and then threw the baby from his car on an interstate highway. The child's lifeless body was found near Interstate 275 north of downtown Tampa early Tuesday. The man, Richard A. McTear Jr., was captured several hours later but has not yet been formally charged. Deputies said he is not the child's father. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said McTear was arguing with his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend, Jasmine Bedwell, at her apartment when he began beating her and the child. She reported that McTear threw her son, Emanuel Wesley Murray, down on the concrete, then picked him up and fled in his Chevrolet Impala. Jason Bird, a news photographer for WTVT-TV in Tampa, spotted the baby's body on his way to work at about 4:30 a.m. "On the side of the road, I saw something out of the corner of my eye and at first I thought it was a baby doll, and then as I was thinking about it more I thought that was awfully big for a doll," Bird said in an interview on the station. He turned around and went back to take another look. "It was laying there with its eyes open," he said. "I couldn't look at it. It freaked me out, but fortunately law enforcement came right away." Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said the medical examiner's office will determine at what point the baby died. "It's hard to find words to describe why someone would do this to a poor, defenseless child," sheriff's Maj. Harold Winsett told reporters at the scene. Deputies located McTear's car at his home. Witnesses told deputies where he could be found, and he was arrested about four hours later after a foot chase. McTear has previously been arrested on charges including felony battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery by strangulation. According to the Florida Department of Corrections, McTear was sentenced to two years probation in June 2008 on a felony battery conviction. An arrest warrant was issued when he failed to report. Last month, Bedwell sought an injunction against McTear for domestic violence, but the case was dropped because she didn't appear in court. In court papers, Bedwell said McTear was violent, often armed and had a drug problem. She said he had forced his way into her apartment and beat her. McTear had not yet appeared in court and did not yet have an attorney.

Employee flips boss' borrowed Ferrari She's not hurt, but he's upset; crash involved a curve and high speed BOULDER CREEK, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol said a 23-year-old woman driving an expensive Ferrari owned by her boss flipped it after taking a curve too fast, causing an estimated $125,000 in damage. CHP Officer Elizabeth Addy said the woman escaped the crash Saturday without injury, but her boss was irate. The unidentified woman apparently lost control after taking a curve at too high a speed, hit an embankment and flipped. Addy said the woman was driving the car with the owner's consent. The CHP said alcohol was not a factor.
