  1. I assume too often that people are aware that downloaded music from the wrong source could be clipped to holly hell... but could very well be the case in this situation- I did get it all off of youtube... you think that's it? most likely They put a lot of time into the design of the box enclosure space and tuning to help keep the cone under control. Also they have clean power what track is 5 -15db -10db or -5db i recommend 10 or 5 I am not sure. It says use track 3 for sq track 7 for loudest and track 5 is compromise between the two dd-1ed my bluetooth? lol no I didn't how do i do that?

  3. I also play my music with my phone streamed through Bluetooth, is that okay?
  4. well I know voltage never drops below 12.5 and that is only for a few seconds if I am stopped at a light, but as long as I am driving it is above 13
  5. I left bass boost on amp at zero, my head unit has the separate bass controls and I left bass volume there on 0 but it does go negative.
  6. dual 2's with strapped 3.5k's in a box that Rusty gave me specs for, it is tuned to 36hz So, you're wired to 1 per amp? If so, that would be why they're stinky lol. after rise there is know way their actually getting 3500 watts... I just went with the subs rusty recommended. I know its not power issue, it is clipping issue. So if you know what it is what's the point of the thread? No sub should smell regularly. Some have a slight glue smell when first played, but most should not. And it's probably not clipping that much, but since you are running so much power to them, even slight clipping is likely to make them smell. Only way to be sure is to use Audacity and buy an oscope. I think it is clipping issue because of my bass knob light. the reason for the thread was to find out if you all get smelly without clipping/if clipping is the reason, why is it clipping when tuned correctly?
  7. If 3500 watts is too much per sub how is it that Meade and many other put twise the rated power to theirs and get away with it? I am new to this... But I am still sticking with clip issue. probably is my music

  11. I play sygh morrison, young jeezy, e 40 and other... how do I know if it is clipped?
  12. I have a couple xl's and tuned my amp with the dd-1 but my bass knob for my dc amp shows clipping, I was told to ignore this if it was properly tuned with the dd-1 but my subs start to get pretty stinky a couple songs in and dust caps get warm. I've herd that some dc subs just smell but I don't want to blow these things. what do you guys think?
  13. Gym today or install my 3.5's... sorry gym!

  14. The 0db track is for finding hu clipping volume then use either track 3 -5db or track 5 -5db or track 7 -10db 40Hz tone to set sub gain. I personally use track 3 as I get too much clipping at -10db Yeah I meant I do not know why people use track 3 I will be using track 5 when I get a higher quality amp. With a good amp track 5 should be fine.
  15. I do not know what every ones deal is with saying you have to use 0db, Meade himself said woofers are good with -5db and -10 in a lot of cases also. I use -5db with success...
  16. Hey guy so I got my dd-1 in last week and just wanted to do a post about it. I have always been into car audio, but the one thing I could never figure out was how to set my gains properly and never took the time to figure out how to do it with a multimeter because honestly it just looked confusing. I got my dd-1 in after watching Steve Meade (the creator) use it many times and it looked simple but wasn't sure if it would be as easy as it looked. Well... it was easier, it literally took 10 minutes from start to finish. The instructions were wrote so that even the most inexperienced car audio person could read them and know exactly what to do. My gains are set, my deck is set so I know that I can go to 39 out of 40 on my pioneer deck without hitting distortion. Could not be happier with the dd-1. Made my life a lot easier
  17. Got my SMD DD-1 in today... Time to set Gains!
