  1. Tony C. has me scared with his turn-on relay kit. Two amps (mono & 4-chan) on a single HU remote out (300mA) should be fine right? Using 12ga cca on a 10ft max run? The Tony's make me overthink shit.

I never priced everything separately. But to me once you consider time spent making all the connections, double checking that everything is done correctly, hunting down/driving/ordering different stuff online vs. the fact that Tony gives us a 10% discount and you can spend your time on other parts of your build, and just plug and play when it shows up, it's a great deal.

Yeah and considering I'm not too familiar with how to even go about wiring it up, I don't really have the time to try to figure it out now.

  2. Bought some supplies to try glassing some tweeter pods for my door panels, see how it goes this weekend hopefully

Haha thanks. I'll take pics while I do it, but it may end up being a "don't do it like this" lesson, cause I've never glassed anything before.

  3. Someone with money to blow away, buy a big box truck and wall it. And drive to norfolk so I can get a demo.

  5. let my family use my truck while i was in san diego for a month and half. Come back, i have a broken RCA, broken foot on my amp that helps secure it in place, fifty million napkins stuffed in between the seats, and trash hidden behind the back seats. Never again.

  6. Go with the largest battery that will physically fit in your current space for a battery unless you want to modify it to fit a larger one. As for those terminals, get the short battery post adapters I believe http://4xspower.com/shop/terminals/580/ And you just put the terminal over the post and tighten it up.
  7. Today is going to be a great day. Graduate my first C school in about two hours, then I get to get on a plane, fly five hours to Georgia (hopefully sleeping on the way), two hours to Virginia (squeeze another catnap in), picked up by my fiancé, and head home for a few hours before I have to report to my ship tomorrow morning. I love this San Diego weather, but there's no place better than home.

Thanks man, it's all good. I'm sure I'll find someone on the east coast to throw me a couple demos. Maybe get to a couple comps in or around virginia

  8. the cold will put it up some, but it shouldnt be that much i wouldnt think. Maybe low 15's at the most for a 12V system until its warmed up some, then back into 14's. i would call mechman about it.
  9. maybe it has something to do with that noise then. I'm no expert or have much knowledge at all as to how much is too much for car electrical, but I've seen before where it's not recommended to go over 14.8 on a 12V system. I'd say put the stock alt back in if you still have it, measure voltage again with it, and if it's different/"normal" voltage levels call mechman and tell them whats up.
  10. Bit the bullet and bought the 80prs.

  11. You didn't say you checked HU with DD-1, you just said you only go up to 27 out of 35
  12. no... DD-1 tells you directions for finding maximum HU distortion. So follow them. if after that, 27/35 is under the distorted level, and thats still as high as you want to go, then yes, set amplifier gains to that level, but dont go past that
  13. It's just going to be one positive and one negative terminal per bolt. I contacted SHCA about a month ago inquiring about a military discount and was instructed to send an email with my order request to receive the discount. But as long as just using bolts will hold the terminals to the battery without having to purchase battery posts as well, then thats good enough for me. I can buy some longer bolts and add washers that fit if needed. Any suggestions on the size/length? Thank you for the help.
  14. So no for the posts? Or no the m6 terminal bolts aren't enough to hold the shca terminals?
  15. I'm having a hard time locating the answer to my question. About to purchase a D4700, and it comes with the M6 terminal hardware, so do i need to purchase the 580 short post adapters as well if I'm going to have the SHCA 1/0 battery terminals on there? The image of the terminals look like its only a bolt that can fit through, just needing some clarification. I dont want to buy the posts and not need them or them not work with the terminal.
  16. That would be a nice feature to block certain words, but blocking out "vs" doesn't take away saying "or". I suppose there's not a way to make sure that those types of posts dont happen. I do agree with reporting the posts instead of responding. That would help them realize that it's not the way things are done and hopefully see that no one can tell them which two good brands are better, because it's all opinion. But no such thing as a perfect world anywhere I suppose, especially not the internet. Thanks for the feedback. I was just brainstorming possible solutions last night before bed and figured I would share my thoughts.
  17. I understand what you're saying. Most people are in such a hurry to get what they want done or find the answer they want and not what they need that they dont pay attention to what's available to them already. In all honesty I think the only reason I created an account was to be able to use the search function. If I recall correctly, it wouldn't let me use the search bar before making an account. I had no intentions of posting or ever asking questions, but I wanted to search to find my answer and google wasn't cutting it for me. I now use SMD first, and then to make sure what I'm reading is accurate I'll check it with a search on google with a few other sites. I for one appreciate the way things are supposed to be done by us as members and the rules established for us, as well as many others are I'm sure. I just was curious if anything could be done about the matter, but you made a very good point with your reference to the chat. Thank you very much.
  18. I know I'm still a new member to this forum, and I understand that post count doesn't count for much when you can go to any topic and say "tuned in" or some other variation of that to raise your post count, but I've been seeing a lot of "versus" threads recently. And i know it sounds like I'm a rent-a-mod or something, but it appears that most "newcomers", even some with a couple hundred posts already, are not paying attention to the forum rules. No versus threads being the most common I see. So I was wondering if there was a way to either add the rules to the Posting A New Topic in _____ page, or making a way that persons with less than a certain number of posts posting a new topic have to have that topic verified by a mod or admin or whatever other forum authority there may be. Maybe do this in order to weed out the posts that are in violation of the rules and get locked, cluttering the forum. And it would be reviewing all posts for questions that have been asked repeatedly and answered repeatedly already in it's own specific topic as well. I just feel that a way to prevent seeing locked vs threads or people asking "is this SMD partner a good brand to buy from?", or whatever other repetitive question over and over would be a good idea. If I'm crossing a line or stepping on any authoritive toes, I apologize. As it's been stated a lot, people dont take time to research, or see what tools on the internet are available to them, and want to be hand fed everything they want to do, rather than take the time to see if it's already been done or find what they like, not realizing that what they like someone else doesn't and vice-versa. And not taking the time to read the rules established to keep this forum free of junk posts. I was guilty of the lack of research for two of my posts, and learned my lesson. There's a lot to learn on this forum, and I'm glad to have stumbled upon it ass backwards and realizing how wrong I've been for five years. Thanks in advance for any thoughts, opinions, and criticism.
