  1. Nothing. I did it from the back of the H/U to the new harness. Should I be doing it from the car harness to the head unit?
  2. Going to check on that now.
  3. Slide another CD under it and press the eject button, sometimes that works.
  4. I'm having a problem with my new head unit. I own a 1989 Honda Civic DX hatch. Just bought an Alpine CDA-9884 saturday and KNOW it works because I purchased it off the wall. I wired up the harness, plugged it in and nothing. Checked my wiring and tried again, nothing. Re-checked wiring, checked fuses, nothing. Swapped fuse on head unit and radio fuse in car, nothing. I can't figure out my volt meter so I couldn't test it but I did undo the ground from the harness and tried against metal on car, it sparked, held it there and still nothing. I've gone back and checked for loose wires on harness, and connection to battery from factory wiring to harness. Does anyone see something I may be doing wrong? Or is there anyone out there with the slightest idea of something I'm missing? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  5. That is plenty to make something loud despite what anyone will probably pop up and say in this thread. Do some research and don't jump then gun. Watch vids, listen to your friends setups, ask opinions, etc. Take the time to see what you would be intrested in. Another good choice sub that is very loud, lots of boom and great if you're not competing is the Kicker S15L7.
  6. Check Fi, DC (Personal Fav), DD, Audioque, RE, Rockford, JL, Kicker, T3, Cactus, Soundstream, ***, Sundown, Diablo Audio Technologies. They all make good equipment IMO. $1000 though? DC level 4xlD4 18 w/ AQ2200 @ 2 ohms, tuned however. Grab a $100 wire kit and slap a box together. You'll impress your friends and spare your wallet. I'd look into that.
  7. I don't understand. You want to do four twelves, but for a dual twelves ported enclosure you can't keep your back seats in? Uh ok. :01nocomment8so:
  8. So you don't hurt your subs ears! Duh!
  9. Damn that really does put it into perspective. I've never asked myself those questions. Alcoholism runs in my family too but I never looked at it as something you can pass down to someone else, I really still don't know if you can or not. I always figured it was something that went in a chain from people in familiy's seeing other members do it. Then again if it's bad enough it can be the latter and people stay away from it because of those members, I still don't understand it really. Thanks for that advice though I'm gonna be thinking about that.
  10. True that. I appreciate the advice from everyone. It was embarassing as shit to post that up! lol, oh well it's done now. Thanks for being cool about it everybody.
  11. Yeah I've heard of those stories too, and I'm not saying that I have any more will power than anyone else that says that. Thanks for the advice everyone, after this weekend I guess I'm gonna start to cut back some.
  12. It sounds like you're getting mixed up with some assholes, I'd get away from those people. I wouldn't have anything to do with people heading down that road. Idk whose been trying to break in but I'd def. stay away from those guys, it sounds like they're trying to get what they can out of you and they're not very good friends.
  13. lol I'm asking for user opinions not a shrink! C'mon now! lol
  14. I agree with that, I'm yet to be arrested for underage drinking or drinking and driving (never got behind the wheel drunk). I know just what you're saying when your friends say that shit too, back in KY that was everyone's biggest excuse to get drunk, to friends, teachers, and parents. I guess I just do need to cut back and take things in moderation though. It's just become such a regular thing at the same time though.
  15. Yeah I see what you guys are saying, I just don't really see a point in stopping if it's not really affecting my everyday life. I'm not an asshole to people and I get everything I need to done. I NEVER drink and drive though, I have lost a few friends to that and I'm smarter than to risk a go-around like that. I do drink on week nights, not fifths, I'll drink a half of a fifth or a little more in one sitting by myself though. That's why I got sorta worried. I have all the friends I could ask for and they're great, noone really drinks in this town though, not to mention it's a dry county! haha, I have to smuggle in my alcohol! I've looked for other more 'positive' activities to partake in though without luck. It's so small here all everyone does is go to church (boring to me) and out of town, which I do sometimes but all I've ever ended up doing with these people is riding around for a couple hours before they realize there is nothing to do and we leave, on several occasions.
  16. I've always been a party animal, for the past couple of years I've never been one to turn down any party or get together that involves drinking. I started drinking on a *regular* (every weekend) basis my sophomore year in high school. I come from Bardstown, KY (Now in Mississippi) and it being the whiskey capital of the world doesn't help a whole lot, lol. Anyway, I'm 18 years old now, and I still love to party my ass off. Yes I know I'm underage and whatever but alcohol resources are always plentiful (anyone knows how that is, never had to play Hey Mister). Now I think it's sorta gone off the deep end though. For the past five months I've drank at least three times a week to the point to where I'm past buzzed. This past tuesday I went to Mardi Gras and woke up with a hangover, so I had a drink to help soothe it and ended up drinking the entire day. Another thing is I can always go for a beer, like I crave it. lol. I'll drink liquor but beer is my drink of choice (next to sparks), and it always seems like it'll quench my thirst better than anything else. Drinking hasn't really taken a huge toll on my athleticism and it doesn't effect my everyday activities and I still do everything right on schedule. I just don't know if I should quit because I've opened a gateway to the rest of my life or I'll be ok. I don't think I'm gonna die from serosis (spell check?) or anything and I def. wanna keep partying cause thats what I do! Idk though, maybe as I mature more I'll just grow out of it. I would like some input from some older heads though so I can better make my decision. Thanks everyone, Lopez
  17. Btw you should rename this "Fuse question" and repost in the electrical-battery-alternator-wiring section of 'Equipment'
  18. A fuse serves as a protectorent for your amplifier, and car, if there is a surge in your wire, or another problem, the fuse blows and the connection is cut off. This stops the power going to your amp, in turn, saving you alot of cash.
  19. Yeah. It was also mainly a joke. Oops anyway?
  20. Or an entire new sub? lol
  21. He didn't ask you to pick equip out for him, you don't need to know squat about his budget. He asked what he would have to do as far as swapping in the rockford gear in place of the sony.
