  1. Sup guys, I've created a page for Rocktown SPL, http://www.soundcloud.com/rocktownspl. This is where you can download my test tones and sweeps, as well as some heavy hitting original bass music created by me, and some modified (slowed and extra bass) songs. Also don't forget that I have a bass album available for purchase online at: http://www.junodownload.com/artists/Rocktown+Spl/releases/
  2. Rocktown SPL - Killer Beez, some old compound notes and sweeps I complied from material I created and some from other test discs by other artists that I've modified. Don't tak this lightly, it will slap like you never heard... notice most tracks are just bass and no beats. My link
  3. I shot the video in July of 2005. But I do like the fact that Cerwin has still incorporated the signature red rubber surround in their new products.
  4. Here's a video I found from an old car show I attended, Kreations n Kulour in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was a van that had some old school Cerwin Vegas getting it with the doors open. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v83R5bh5y0o
  5. IMO, respectively, you can get alot better equipment than that. I'd go with a powered setup, with a more experienced dj controller like Numark, Traktor, Hercules, or Allan & Heath. There are others out there but these carry best seller units. I personally have a Hercules Rmx Controller that I use with Virtual DJ Pro, I'm actually wanting to sell it since they've release a 4 jog wheel setup for mixing 4 tracks at once. Also, a powered setup is generally less to have to move. I've played on pretty much everything out there, generally small dj equipment like jbl's, peavey's, b-52, except the QSC and major concert setups. Some gear out there sound like crap when blasted at high volumes. They aren't car audio speakers so they can't handle the low frequencies, like you'd expect. If you can, image those speakers being more like guitar speakers, paper cone and all. And then there's the option of building your own speaker setup.
  6. What's happenin guys? Just letting you know that I've been able to get around to creating a bulk zip file in which you can download the tones and sweeps that some of you have seen on my soundcloud page. BASSICALLY I'm doing some Spring Cleaning so I can add some of my dj mixes and more of my original bass music to the page. Thanks for your support, and keep on bumpin. I've posted a link there as you can see below: But you can also go to the same download page here: http://www.gamefront.com/files/20051795/test_tones_zip **** Click the "Download Now" icon in the Orange Box with the open folder.****
  7. http://soundcloud.com/king-julian/rocktown-spl-i-cant-stop-it Download it, bump it, post a video demoing it, spread the word. I just posted my a slowed version of my bass song "I can't stop it." More will be added later! Julian
  8. Do you have a suction cup mount for the camera?

  9. That's the end result of things. If it sounds like crap in the studio it's going to sound like amplified crap in the car. You don't make a bass cd or any cd while sitting in a car with 30,000watts at you. You do it in a controlled environment, with well balanced sound so you can hear everything within a song. People with sound systems no matter what the wattage, basically exaggerate the sound. It's like adding 18s to a recording studio and pumping 30,000 watts to them alone. But it's when you are able to amplify that studio sound equally is when you really shine. Another thing that may be a reason to why crapy audio is, how it's saved, like mp3 or aiff or wav, what it's sample format and set rate are. The higher the number the more information recorded in a song, and the larger the file, you can also achieve a cleaner and as a result louder sound. Most commercial sound is 24-bit 44,100hz sound, and studio production being louder. It's like the photo world, most people know and deal with .JPEG (.JPG) files, which is a compressed, general, simple to use, open edit, store, file. Whereas professionals will deal with RAW or .NEF files that are uncompressed, and are straight from the camera, with as much information stored as possible, and would create a .tiff or a .jpeg verion of it. It's when you the end user open a .jpeg photo on a big 80" screen - affordable, and not be satisfied with the clarity, but when another person opens a RAW photo on a more sophisticated, more expensive but smaller screen, and can see every single detail.
  10. If you listened to the radio, hip hop radio station for example, it's overly compressed and maximized, just like a commercial on tv being louder than what every movie or show you are watching. It doesn't sound as good as the real deal, like the music cd you get from the store, or if your lucky the tape from the studio. You have crossovers to prevent certain speakers from playing frequency ranges, which can allow them to be pushed harder if you wanted to. If you wanted the loudest bass song possible, you could do it by, setting a tempo, and creating a bass track with what ever pattern you wanted, and raise the volume until it peaks (red line). then add a compressor on the bass, with a soft cut, then create a pattern for a polysynth or a monosynth, and have this almost at full volume, and then have a compressor gate the bass slightly when ever the notes of the polysynth's pattern is played, so you can hear the pattern more over bass than you did before. All without a bass drum or hihat, because having them in it will drive it in the read, and you will have to back off on volume on specific channels and brush up the sounds in relation to one another so it's all loud and clear. It's a dance for sure, lol. You kind of have to listen to a bass cd, on a car sound system, then on a factory system (but not turned up, so that you can hear how loud the bass really is when it was recorded). Alot of your older bass cds have lots of bass, and lots of highs, and very little mid areas, because when played on a crossed sound system, you hear alot of bass, and when you have power to tweeters you hear the highs piercing through the bass.
  11. 0 is the utmost amplitude that recorded material can be achieved without clipping. after that it's signal processors like those from rockford, and treo, etc. Ever heard a bass cd on a signal processor, or a tone on one? They are meant to restore or enhance bass on tracks that have little or none at all on them, but when you have lots of bass on a track, it can get insane. In audacity, you can amplify a track beyond 0 but the waveform would be soo distorted it would be no good by then. The waveform would flatten at moment it goes above 0 and and when it comes back down. Almost like a square wave. Music can never really be as loud as a tone, it can only appear to be. Because you have compressors, eqs, and maximizers being used on different parts and instruments in the songs. Yes you can have a really loud hihat, or a bass drum, but for them to work together without distortion, and to keep the clearity of the two, some mastering is going to have to be done. For example, my slowed track, I can't stop it, has a fat bass line, but it doesn't go all the way to 0. The bass is the most dominating sound in a song, it takes more energy to play a bass note than it would any other frequency. So it would distort the rest of the song or other sounds being played if it was at zero. So, it's best to have it slightly below, so that your hihats and other sounds can shine through (which would be the peaks of the waveform that reaches or goes beyond zero) - Also, it's safe for these upper frequencies to go above zero because they happen so fast, that you couldn't really hear the distortion or compression in them. Also, do to the loudness debate that's been happening for years in the recording industry, some newer material are generally going to be louder than older, newer mastering techniques and hardware/software. Like using an old competition cd form 96 to one from now, that some people can make well.
  12. Sup guys, I wanted to share with you some videos of my live dj sets that I've done here in Little Rock, Arkansas. Let me know what you think. 13. http://soundcloud.com/king-julian/i-cant-stop-it-slowed Hey Guys, I've got a track that's available for download. it's called "I can't stop it" (slowed version). This track hits between the 20hz and 40hz range, and is mastered loud and low. I checked this track in the Treo truck and it hurts. So check it out, and also let me know what you think, and if you've shot a video playing it post it as well.

  15. Here's a video of "Drum and Bass" a full length track from my Rocktown SPL: 2KX album - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBAdLolh6T8
  16. I only mentioned the wood because you stacked 2x4s behind the rear seat when building the port to help brace the enclosure, but the same could also help with the roof when added to the steel?
  17. This might be a dumb question, but would you ever consider putting 2x4s side by side, vertically from front to back along the roof, to cut down on the roof flexing as much, so you don't have a roof ripping on you all the time?
  18. This is his build thread on here: ----> http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/81703-48x-sa-10s-oh-noes-back-at-it-again/

  22. I like the new camera. I have a GoPro HD as well, and it doesn't do well in low light or night time at all, but you can't knock a frame rate of 60fps, or so when dealing with flex. But, that other camera you have is shooting nice in HD. I wish it could shoot a little lighter as far as interior videos go (wanting to see the subs more). Side note, I modified my GoPro housing so that I could plug it in and keep it charged while live streaming. The discussion about pressure dropping with low hertz, i agree up to the point where you start using fan based subwoofers, for frequencies like 21 and below.
