The F*ck That Post

Never been really religious (dont take offense anyone) and been talkin to a hottie for a week then she tells you she broke up with her ex because he wasnt Christian enough for you? FUCK THAT!!! -
8 gauge and if you twist it good enough and take your time it will fit What subs do you have and what terminals do they have? If theyre the push terminals (what my DC's have) they are cut big enough for 8 ga

Everything is soldered, forum motto bro! The alt is 220 at 2000rpm and like 165 or 175 at idle. Its doin well now it mainly drops into 11s after wangin and yeah if i push it real hard for a while ill cut it for a few minutes to let it come back up. When i wang on it for a while and i see it drops to about 11.8 or so i cut it and usually comes right back to 13.8 so that batts come back quick then about 2 minutes to get back up into 14.4 range. Alt's aren't meant to charge the batteries i know that so i give it time to do its thing. If its a song with low bass every 10 seconds or something it will drop into mid 12s then come back up into 14s before the next bass hit. As far as disconnecting the diehards my truck came stock with 2 batts under the hood dad bought it that way, so everything is tied together, without those 2 my truck wont start. You can click on the link in my sig to check my build, i could probly disconnect the diehard terminals but keep the 1/0 on them connected to the d3100 and see what happens. Like i said ill play with it tomorrow when i get up to clemson.

As far as i know the belt is much tighter than stock, the alt is about an inch bigger in diameter so thats another 1/2 inch. Plus the pulley is a lot bigger so the belt has about another 3/4 to an inch that it has to reach. I know the belt tensioner or whatever you call it had to be turned a lot farther than stock to get the belt to go around

I appreciate all the info guys. So those charts with like wattage at certain ohms to achieve cetrain watts is meant to look at and set the voltage to whatever your amp is. Like mine should be set to 54.77 for 3000 watts at 1 ohm? Looks like i need to hurry up and get my lv 5s. I ordered some more knukonceptz ultra fleks wire, going to have 2 runs from front to back and 2 grounds and see if that helps keep me above 12. The lowest i saw today was 11.8. Also have the truck on trickle charge tonight so when i go back to the dorm tomorrow theyll be nice and charged.

Well on the way home i was bangin pretty hard and seems now it only drops into the 11's when its straight wangin (airforces) for about 30 seconds or more. Ill keep an eye on it. David could you explain how it works? I thought you set the gain so the head unit output and amp input match in correspondence to the wattage you want to see out of it? I popped in my test tone 50hz and am seeing 56.2v output from the amp at my 3/4 volume. 56.57v output with a 1 ohm load gives you 1600 watts. I am not disagreeing or anything im just curious, i like to learn new things about this game.
-
Can you explain? Then why do you set the gain?(i understand to match the hu output and amp input) I just checked, its a pretty hot day truck has been in the sun all day, 12.57 at the d3100 and 12.54 at each of the front batts. Cannot find a loose connection. I am at the dorm, might go home to charge it in the garage tonight and do laundry, there i will be able to do much better troubleshooting.

Like the title says I have voltage drops from 14.5-14.8 down into the 10 range on low notes. I have a 220 amp irragi alt. 2 batteries under the hood. Diehards which i replaced in November brand new almost. Rated at like 720 cca. A powermaster d3100 in the back 12 inches from the amp. 1 run of 1/0 from front to the d3100. All 1/0 with 300 amp fuses. The alt, both stock batteries and the 3100 are grounded to the FRAME, scraped to bare metal and all connections are tight. My 3000d is only at half gain right about 1600 watts. Judging by my electrical and what the amp is set at, I should not have voltage drops that low. I think my box is just very inefficient. Anyone agree with me or have any ideas? EDIT: I also have a sundown 100.4 only running at about 300 watts total, around 70 watts to each 6.5.

Wait, So Enclosure Type & Size Affects Max Watts?
95_1500 replied to slugdub's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
hes talking about the title, box affects wattage. A large box allows the sub to move easier, therefore on the same amount of wattage as in a small box the sub literally can and will have more excursion therefore possibly reaching its mechanical limits depending on the amount of power the subs can handle and what you're running to them. I think i am correct on this, let me know if im not guys, a ported box in general has less sub control over a sealed box in the first place. So yes if your box is too big and you run the manufacturer rated RMS to your subs they could possibly shit out on you. -
Help: How Do I Know A Good Wire Brand?

Pretty sure the primary wire is just the 18ga for the remote wire -

hhahahaha that made my night! -
Haha invest in some 1/0 and do it. Get the most out of your alternator!!!

Check it after you ground to the frame. Make sure all of your big 3 grounds are too the frame. I had crazy voltage drops with my 220amp iraggi because i didnt have them grounded to the frame.

No problem man good luck. Remember washers and lock washers for the bolt. Just for good measure i even have a nylon lock nut on my bolt, might be overkill but who cares
-
I put them in my first post.. You cant see them?
-
Not necessarily. Just right near the battery kinda look under the car and see where you think it would come through, if theres nothing major right there then drill a small pilot hole, you can drill right through the carpet. Look at the hole underneath and if all is fine then you can cut a small bit of carpet away right where your hole will be. If you dont wanna do that then you need to move whatever is there so you can fold the carpet back. Then once the hole is drilled you can cut a small "X" right where the hole is and the wire should slip through as long as the hole is big enough and it doesnt have to be that big, carpet is thin
