  1. Oh sorry um. Well it's a fiberglass box. But the rough shape is 36"wide x 14"deep x 17" high. But I don't want the ports to stick way out, that's why I wouldn't be able to do the 48sqin port. Which would be 24" long.
  2. Well I think I may be maxed out at about 4 ft^3. Will it sound like shit with the smaller port?...because I definitely cant do a 22" long port.
  3. This box is for a 2006 kicker L7 15" 2ohm. Amp: kx1200.1 - around 1350w I believe from the birthsheet 4 ft^3 33hz - not sure if this is good, I just heard I should do between 30-35hz First I tried 2 3x6" ports and they came out entirely too long for the space I want to keep it within after a change in things in my trunk. I just played around with the carstereo.com port calculator until I came up with something I thought I could work with and thought about a single 14x2" would work good but is that too skinny. All edges will be rounded.
  4. I made the box and the area I can to work with on the google sketchup...Anybody know how I could put the file on here so yall can work with it too? Figured it out.. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/det...67ab143e65c7689
  5. I'm also using a kicker kx1200.1 ..So probably around 1350watts.
  6. Well I want some trunk room left... 37"wide x 17"high x 14"long is about what I want to keep it within. I figured up I should have about 3.5-4ft^3 after displacements. Hopefully Ill be able to get more out of it, but wont know yet until it's made. Sub is a 15" kicker L7 d2...looking to tune it to 33-34hz
  7. Thanks ^^ Now that I look at the space I have..I think I can only put the sub up. Just need to make a port fit nicely in there somewhere. Originally was going with two 3x6x 21"long ports but it just takes up too much space. What's the smallest I can go on a port opening without getting port noise...2" with it rounded?
  8. Well this is in a 00-05 celica. It's hatchback...I cant test different ways because this is a fiberglass box formed to a certain area in my car. So there's how it is..rough and ugly right now. I got the plexi window facing up against the rear seats. Original plan was to face sub/port back but now the spare that I decided to add in is in the way of the sub. So the sub hits the cargo cover now...which I may modify or just face the sub up. If sub is up....port to rear or front?
  9. Majority of the time people put the port and sub on the same side of the box. Also have seen subs up, port back. So is there a wrong way to face the port..
  10. a little bit of google and found this http://www.jmsonline.net/Marine-HardwareEl...cal_page_95.htm
  11. Sounds right...each will be 21.86. http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 you should get something very close. My ports came out huge at 21" long also..I have a smaller box too. What Im doing is making my ports removable..so I can build my box first then sort out the port length after and pop them in...after I know exact air space.
  12. Cool...not many people are using polk stuff. I have two of these I barely even used, makes me wanna make something for them now. And yeah...not digging the song at all.
  13. I just noticed you are using a kicker sub...similar to my build. Im using one L7 15" though with two ports, but I am only using two to make it symmetrical. Use this to figure up port length if you are doing two. Only difference to get tuning with more than one port is to take your expected airspace and divide it by the number of ports. So if you are going for a 5 ft^3 box, you would put 2.5 ft^3 in this formula instead. Lv = port length Av = your port area (height x width of the port face) Vb = the internal volume of your box Fb = the tuning frequency you want You could also use the calculator on carstereo.com but this is more accurate.
  14. no that would be different tuning. I have been debating which way to face my port too..so im interested in the replies
  15. is this to remove fresh bugs or ..baked on bugs? haha. I've used the rainx bug remover, but you can still see where it was at.
  16. Looks exactly how I want mine. First pic makes them look really dark though
