  1. An eclipse and a neon are completely different...

depends what year and if ur talking cab space or engine engine wise some years are the same or similar. ik a eclise is a hatch. but still wanting to do the idea in mine. his 18s where just chilling in his back seat.

unless you can put subs into the engine compartment, that has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation LOL

  2. who was that one guy whom had 4 in an astro then moved to 8 on those warhorses? he done very well with them, didn't know they were so hated here. I never had problems with mine and heating issues myself.

well, they are medium quality stuff, medium being a big factor here

medium quality being priced as top of the line quality

why spend 900+ on 1 kicker 18 when you can get 2 18s that handle MORE power, for right around the same price...

the only thing kicker has thats decent is warranty...

    edit

lets also not forget that the motors are different from the solo x 10-12 to the 18...

so that is false advertisement because technically with different motors that makes it a different sub...

paying DC lvl 5 pricing for a lvl 4 sub = no go, but people WILL pay it because kicker says its a solo x LOL

  3. Well hypothetical both boxees are equal. I thought cone area went 3*12 = 36... and 2*18= 36 ?

    http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/6819-cone-area-of-a-subwoofer/

    How to calculate cone area

    Cone area = pi x (r x r)

    pi = 3.14 r = radius of sub

    One 8" = 50.27

    One 10" = 78.54

    One 12" = 113.1

    One 15" = 176.71

    One 18" = 254.47

    Two 8" = 100.53

    Two 10" = 157.08

    Two 12" = 226.19

    Two 15" = 353.43

    Two 18" = 508.94

    Three 8" = 150.8

    Three 10" = 235.62

    Three 12" = 339.29

    Three 15" = 530.14

    Three 18" = 763.41

    Four 8" = 201.06

    Four 10" = 314.16

    Four 12" = 452.39

    Four 15" = 706.86

    Four 18" = 1017.87

    2 18s = bigger than 3 12s

  4. Everyone is going to say DC

theres nothing wrong with that, but ill throw this out

a few things come into mind when choosing a setup

    money

    performance

    and CS

you might get the REs for cheaper, but where is the performance and CS... do you know if RE would take care of you?

I ran RE, and they used to make quality stuff, dunno much about the new series of subs.

But I know for the past almost 5 years, Rusty has taken really good care of me when I needed help with something.

Performance wise, they will probably be right on par with each other, so take those words into consideration and think about it.

Let us know what you decide to go with

  5. Not to be a buzz kill, but you bought a way overrated sub. The coil isn't even a true 3 inch, so it can't even be reconed. I blew my 1233 on not even 1500w total, and no, the signal was not at all clipped. You will probly be lucky to see any reliability at even 1000wrms.

Ive personally seen them handle 2500wrms easily.

true 2500w and 2500w max is a whole different story man..

sony xplode amps say 4000w max, but you would be lucky to get 400w out of it...

and i gotta agree with detroit, ive seen how bad these can be, audiofanatics tried to recone one, because they blew it on 1400 rms....

you could see through the spiders, all stacked together, they were beyond thin...

  6. I was wondering what THD was?

    The amps specs

    14v@5%THD. 1200@1ohm

    14v@1%THD. 1400@1ohm

That does't seem like a very good amp.

im actually confused on how it does 5% thd at 1200, but 1% thd at 1400...

that sounds backwards to all hell LOL

stay away from that amp for sure

  7. if you have 1 set of speaker wires coming from the box to the amp, just use 1 pos and 1 neg..

they have 2 speaker terminals for more wire, so if you wanted to run another pos and neg from the speaker box, from the same spot *saying you had the subs wired inside, and bolts on the box for the wiring*

you can run 2 pos and 2 neg, its just for more flow thats all'

1 pos and 1 neg is fine though

  8. Likin the style there Derrick. Atleast your being honest. Some people just live off drama and hatin I believe

LOL yeah, im alittle too honest, i say that shit to people who talk shit about car audio all the time, then they pause and take a second to realize im right, it could be worse, instead of me pulling up with my stereo on, i could pull up with my gun drawn and shoot them..

    LOL

    edit

it was really funny how the people said that people that have that stuff are low life no job having people..

last i remember, im a veteran getting deployed next month for my 2nd tour to the middle east, kinda funny when you think about it
