A Funny Little Story..
Gearstix replied to Gearstix's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
It never did clunk after. Our 97 Ford F350 service truck we have shifts rather rough, but the dealer said some of them were like it, and there was no fix for it. Plus the truck only has 100,000kms on it, and the trans was leaking, replaced the seal and it still leaks... but not enough to notice on the stick. -
I just remembered this when I saw pix of a early 00s Silverado. My dad bought a 2000 Silverado Z71 W/5.3 from a company who used it to go from city to city, highway. It had 220,000 on it when we traded it in 04 IIRC. When we bought it, the tires were worn sooo bad you could see the belting in them. However, when you'd take off from a stoplight, the truck would clunk. We could not figure out what it was, we was firguring the trans was crapping out.. We mentioned this to the sellers. I think we were on vacation when dad was loading stuff into the back of it, and he saw a golf ball in the side pockets of the bed. He took it out and it never clunked no more. Golf balls save money.. haha

Oil Change
Gearstix replied to Coolwazabi's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
The higher the number, the thicker the oil. 10W30 is thicker that 5W30. Can't remember what the Wxx means... We use 0W30 in the winter. I use 10W30 in my go kart because it runs full tilt alot. at work we used 10W30 in a old Honda van with alot of miles. -

Microwave Popcorn
Gearstix replied to audiofanaticz's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
http://www.toastess.com/product_details.asp?product=30 This makes really good popcorn IMO. I just pour in some corn oil, some kernels, you can put butter into the top and season it and stuff, pops up real nice. I also like cooking it up on the stove, just corn oil in a big pot and some kernels and seasoning. I can't remember what mircrowave popcorn I liked, but it was sweet corn. Tastes good too. But.... I dont like mircrowave pop corn too much. -

My truck has a a/c bracket but no a/c was equipped. I can get a 140amp kit for my stock alternator, if I used a separate oem modded alt, in place of where the a/c would have went, and have it dedicated to the stereo, would that be okay, or should I do a 200+amp for the whole truck, and replace the single alt? Anybody running a Missing Link w/ a Mechman alt? -

Hmm.... wouldn't you want the case to be more open to cool it better? I honestly don't overly care for shiny things, as long as it puts out power -

"No problem, we have a 250 amp unit with built-in adjustable voltage regulator on-sale for $399 shipped. (normally $499) We can set the voltage at 15.2V for you to optimize system performance, and it will do a full 250 amps with over 150 amps at idle! (the best in the industry) We even include an extra-small 46mm overdrive pulley that we custom machine here in house, (49mm is the smallest available anywhere else) this further boosts idle RPM performance. Best of all, our large case unit is custom machined for S10's, making it the only large case unit that bolts in without any bracket modificatons! Let me know and I can have one to you ASAP. Thanks Matt 1-888-MECHMAN" Hmm. Why I've been asking you guys is I'm trying to determine what alternator I should save for. What did you guys not like about the finish of EA alts? -
