  1. heres some finishing pics of the box. i used rubber undercoating for the first coat. and then bedliner spray for the final coat on the box. these are the subs im using right now. ive got them wired together to 4 ohms. i will be wiring them to 1 ohm. this is a pic of the screws im using to mount the subs. i beleive these are the same ones steve meade uses to mount his subs. i will take a pic of the box in the truck soon. it was dark out when i put the box in the truck. and my pics wernt turning out at all. the new box hits lower but it isnt as loud as the other box. but i like this one abit more. i just cant wait to see how it will sound with the amp i wanna get.
  2. made some more progress while at my gf's parents house. more to come tomorow. i will be glueing the ports in tomorow and coating the box in rubber under car coating.
  3. this was just with random stuff laying around(my old work bench top). and for me to try out some new stuff. im not planning on having these subs for long. i will have to make a new box within the next couple months if i am not able to sell them. this is just to see how the subs sound with the bigger box and at that frequency. the box is square. the blaces arnt really. and the little piece for aligning the sides arnt square either. but the braces will prevent flexing and thats all i was looking for.
  4. made some more progress. more progress to come tomorow.
  5. so i started building today. and here are some pics. ill have more later
  6. so im building a new box for my 2 audiobahn immortal series 12's. the old one is too small and is beatup abit. wrong tuning and all that good stuff. ive only got one pic as of right now. but im leaving to go to a good family friends house to use his wood shop to router out some stuff.
  7. this thing is sick steve. your giving me lots of ideas with this project. keep up the good work.
  8. niceee. its nice to know that some fellow bassheads live not too far away.
  9. i live in kenosha wisconsin and was just curouse as to how many others live around me or within like 200 miles.
  10. im gonna do the same except with a 18" FI BTL ik the 18" will handle it no problem at 1 ohm.
  11. yeah i thought 1000 mcm would be the equivalent of 8/0 too. were you talkin about 2 runs for negative and 2 more runs for positive? or just one for each?
  12. that link is very nice. so i guess wire size does go big but stay in standard or w/e those large sizes were probibly from back in the early industrial revolution. because thats from when the electric motor part was from back then.
  13. ok awsome. then im gonna order a 25 ft roll of black and red 4/0 from them when i get some money
  14. no he said 8/0 would this be a good price on 4/0 though on this site? http://store.weldingdepot.com/cgi/weldingd...ner_image=.html
  15. yes i found out after i did more reasearch that i couldnt find 8/0 wire. but i found an equivalent size of what i beleive 8/0 wire would measure.
  16. i think that 1000mcm wire is abit bigger to the equivalent of 8/0 wire. here is a link ofr a convertion chart i found. http://www.buyawg.com/MM2AWGCONVERSION.htm
  17. well someone posted a pic of 1/0 compared to 4/0 wire. and it was a HUGE difference. no my machinest friend wasnt talkin out his ... this guy is a very knowledgeable person. and i trust all the information he tells me
  18. well i almost shit myself too when he told me about the 8/0 wire for the motor. but the terminal for it on the electrical board was atleast an inch and 1/4 wide for it. and like 1 1/2 inchs tall. ive found some 750mcm wire. idk the awg guage for it. im trying to find it. but i reguested a price for 15 feet of it. ill let you know when they give me one for it.
  19. well i havent got it yet. i was at machinest buddys house today trying to find a motor for my drill press and was asking him if he had some 4/0 wire lugs and he had some for 8/0 wire for an electric motor thing. and if i could find where to buy some i was gonna attempt to use it for the big 3 and all power and ground wire and for the batterys. so basicaly everything. im attempting to find some on the internet right now. ive found 4/0 welding cable soo far.
  20. i might be able to get some 8/0 wiring and was wondering if it would actualy be beneficial to use it. im gonna eventualy have a multiple alternator setup for my stereo. but i dont know if 8/0 would be too much of overkill to use. and if i did use it i would do probibly one run of each for it
  21. ok awsome. you should let me know how it sounds if you get it done before me =]
  22. holy crap i got alot of replies =] ok so a box around 6 cubes and tuned to around lets say 33 hz would do good? oh yeah about the electrical dont worry ive got that one covered. im gonna do the big 3 and some runs of power and ground with some 1/0. then im gonna add acouple powermaster 3100's. then after that a HO alternator.
  23. ok awsome. thanks. thats what i was lookin for. i just wanted to make sure it would work and i wouldnt damage anything. yeah im gonna upgrade electrical, batteries and alternator and all that good stuff.
