the audioque will be cheaper and will do all 2200 watts. the memphis will do 2500 an a lil more. it just depends on whether or not you want all that extra cash for 3-400 more watts. i like audioque IMO. will save you about 400 bucks edit: gave price difference for a 3500 woops!

oh just wondering. were are you getting all of these parts from? i'm trying to start building some customs subs myself but i don't want to have to go through existing woofer company's to get basic parts (cones, spiders, etc.)

if you want to stick with just sound quality and not crazy loud then i would suggest the RE se's

i would say tune it around 40 hz but it is kind of pointless to tune for spl unless you know what HZ your truck peaks at.

looks very nice. i like the color scheme. did you reson over the kerfs or just glue?

do you an o-scope or dmm available to you? check to see if you're clipping how high are your gains and bass boost? if they are smelly its because they are getting hot. clipping is the most common reason. they should not even get warm with a clean 1200 watts.

do you already have the subs or are you thinking about buying one or the other? if so there are way better subs for the money.

how big of a box can you fit back there. max width, depth, height. sound quality, spl (loud) or a both (sql)

i don't really care for either but if i had to choose i would go with the L7 just for being a lil louder.

the IDMAX's have the some of best sound quality i have heard out of a sub that can still get loud. the se's sound great but the q will get louder and has great lows. i haven't tried the havoc's but i presume they are the same as the q's. also look on ebay. sometimes you can find some adire brahma's on there. they get stupid loud but sound GREAT. they are my favorite sq woofer.

the sign that they are about to blow is the smell. when you car smells like cocaine turn it down. what amp are you using? you are most likely giving the subs a clipped signal if they are smelly like that.

what are your dimensions? you are going to have to do a wall for 4 18's. what model fi do you have, how much power, what type of music do you listen to, do you want sq, sql or spl?

nice. free stuff is the best. are you sure the lady's son knows you have this. i think it would be hilarious if she just gave it away without him knowing.

oh and as far as your rpm's bouncing. it is probably that you have a small motor and when your system gets a load on it the alternator becomes harder to turn and it can sometimes drop your rpm's a hundred or so. i used to have a civic with the smallest and crappy running engine ever with a 250 amp alt and it would sometimes stall my engine like that.

get the biggest you can fit.

how is your remote hooked up? sometimes people will hook there remote up to a fuse in there fuse box. i fixed a local guys car that had a similar problem because he had his remote wired to his headlight fuse and everytime he would turn his headlights on or off it would "pop" this was because when he turned his lights on or off there was a power spike that went through that fuse and it would cut off and turn on his amp real quick. also check your "illumination" wire on your headunit. tell me what that wire is hooked up to.

i use this song for tuning systems. it has a good bass, and the highs and mids come in at different intervals. great mids, highs and lows song to tune with MASSIVE ATTACK-ANGEL if you've seen the movie SNATCH then you have heard this before.

you have to remember that if you are running 16 volt batterys you will actually be running 18+ volts with the alternator. not sure if the stetsom will handle 18 volts, it might. i'm not that familiar with stetsom. only know what i have heard about them.

get AQ 3500D for 699 shipped. they do all 3500 watts and if you can step it up to 16 volts they do 4K. or do an 18 volt system and it will put out 6500 watts! not sure about the 18 volt but i have seen these things on 16 volts though and it does 4K and a lil more. they are very picky with clipping so you would have to be careful and set it up right. plus they are very hard to blow. i've had my 2200D all the way to 9.7 volts and it worked fine. they are fairly efficient as well. as far as spl amps, i haven't found an amp that beats Audioque for the money.
