  1. Before we continue, it is important to understand just how clipping the waveform can introduce a DC voltage. First, look at the basic waveform details (two complete cycles are shown), both before and after it is clipped ... Figure 2.3 - Input Waveform Detail The total shaded area shows that the area above the zero volt line is exactly equal to the area below, therefore, the signal is perfectly balanced and there is no DC at all. When the amplifier chops off (clips) the section below the line marked 'Clipping Level', the two areas are no longer the same - the area in the lower part of the waveform is smaller because some of it has been removed when the amplifier overloads. Since the upper (positive) section of the waveform now has more area than the lower (negative) section, the overall waveform has a positive bias - this is seen as a DC voltage. No tricks, no special effects, just plain old physics at its most basic level. my bad this is what i was always taught reguardless clipping cannot be good.
  2. i do not know about anybody else but i am currently running 15000 watts for burps and 7000 watts daily and i have had not had 1 problem yet
  3. you would be surprised what i have seen around where i live but back on topic did the op get rustys # if not i will pm it to you
  4. a couple of questions what size was the box and what size is the port and what was your subsonic set to also are any of the magnets out of alignment.also what amp are you using and at what ohm load
  5. That is just the way rusty is if you need help or an answer about any of his current or future subs he willbe more than happy to tell you he might not volunteer the info but if you ask him about it he will tell you that is 1 of the reasons I am sticking with dc.
  6. Rusty is a very busy man sometimes you have to remind him of quoted prices but he always comes through for you and customer service is awesome take it from somebody that has been into car stereo for over 16 years.and so far I have not found a better product for the price any where.oh btw the way when the level 6s are available you damn skippy I am going to get 1 of those bad boys
  7. i know what the website says and maybe i am wrong but that sure does not look like flatwound which does not make it any better or worse but i am thinking also the bl is an aluminum coil and the btl is a copper coil.
  8. the bl is using flatwound and the btl is using round wire.
  9. i would say no due to the fact that the t&s parameters will be different.
  10. either 1 15 or 2 12s i would run the 1 15 though
  11. clam wall
  12. What is the deal about the armored coils rusty explained it once before but I cannot remember.
  13. If it is going to be walled off go with the 4xl 18s
  14. however you can make a port plug for daily bumpin and pull it out for burps what it will do is lower the tuning for everyday listening.
  15. i like the avatar grady
  16. i have 4 c&d 12-475frs in the trunk 1 optima under the hood a 300 amp alternator and a mla module.
  17. the 2 18s will be louder and generally spl boxes are small with large ports and can take lots of power at certain notes also they are normally tuned between 45 to 70 hertz.and 150 plus is obtainable with only 1 sub in a stock car.
  18. congrats it will sound 10x better in a ported box and broken in me personally i have had no luck with small sealed boxes either 1 of 2 things happened the box itself would start leaking or the sub would either through the dustcap or surround edges.
  19. I plan on putting 4 powerbass 5000s to 1 dc level 5 18 at .35 nominal with a rise to .69 I clamped 7370 watts out of 1 for 1.5 seconds. Oh and the impedence rise at .175 nominal was up to .36 if you can these amps come alive at 18 volts.
  20. what up grady ask cody and mel about that guy that said that he was in that caprice and oh snap your up at 8.30 in the morning miracles never cease.oh by the way this is my boy grady doing a 150.3 at 47 hertz with 1 level 4xl 18 in a 7 cubic ft. box tuned at 34 hertz with 1 sundown 1500.
  21. the trippy thing is pulling up to the lanes in that boat with the system all in the trunk everybody that has not seen it before thinks oh man that is going to do a 139 i had 1 guy with 4 l7 15s come up to me and say i had better not even bother running that his car would was 10 times louder than mine i just smiled and said ok but i would try anyways for the hell of it you should have seen his face when that 155.2 popped up it was priceless. and after the show he asked where he could get some of those dc subs at
