Allrighty I got to a 155.2 with 2 amps strapped at 1.4 I just ordered another level 5 18 and this time she will have 6 spiders and I will strap them .7 on 2 amps at first to see what kind of gain I see then it will be time to run4 amps on it this should be interesting.oh and before anybody says that is to low of an ohm load i will let you all in on a secret those powerbass 5000s were burped at .175 however in my opinion i do not like to go lower than .25 but they took the .175 like a champ.
  3. ideally you want 16 square inches of port per cubic ft if you are playing music daily or burping with moderate power however if it is a burp box with 1000s of watts then the rules change.
  4. it depends on which side you place the mic mine is one 18 on drivers side port on passenger side i am tuned at 40 and burp at 52 with the mic on the drivers side
  5. get the level 5s so when you add your 2nd amp you will be good to go.
  6. just because your car likes 27 does not mean it needs 27 hertz to get loud my cadillac likes 26 [quarter wave theory] but i am tuned to 40 and burp at 52 i would build a ported box 6 cubes per sub after displacement with 192 inches of port tuned between 32 and 40 hertz that should do the job.
  7. No it is a burgandy caddy it is a fleetwood brougham with the lt1 350 with only 34,000 miles on it.
  8. I am not going to say to much but I am also on team sundown and not saying it will happen but I am shooting for 160 out the trunk.
  9. Yeah it is only rated at 2 ohm strapped but I only burp it at low impedences.
  10. Why they are 1 ohm stable and I was running them at .7 each but yes I do have a nice electrical.

Update went from 1 powerbass 5000 at .35 to 2 powerbass 5000s at 1.4 strapped or .7 each and did a 155 at 52 hertz from the trunk now I need to get a recone to dual 1.4s so I can run each amp at .35 or .7 strapped this sub still amazes me the more power I keep feeding it the louder she gets with no power compression signs as of yet.

    if you used all 4 voice coils in parallel on that amp that poor amp was seeing a nominal load of .25 and that why it was going byby you need to wire each speaker in series then run each speaker to the amp.
  13. those amps the protection cuts it off at 1 ohm because they only rate it at 2 ohm stable you have to bypass the protection to keep it from cutting off at 1 ohm any lower on a weak electrical and get ready to toast some marshmellows.

    here is what you do connect a wire from 1 + to a - on the subs then take the remaining +s and connect them to the amp and the remaining -s and connect them to the amp you can use all 4 outputs because they are parallel on the inside of the amps and are you using both coils on the sub.because it sounds like you are using only 1 set of coils in parallel for a .5 ohm load and that would kill that amp.always use both coils on a dvc sub
  15. it depends on the install i would try 4 a 4xl 15 or 18
  16. yeah the re and dc subs are completely different same box same amps remx dual,7 18 to dc level 4xl dual 1s 18 i jumped up 3 db and that was at a higher ohm load to.
  17. i would guess with voltage drops and the fact music is dynamic the dc subs should not have a problem.
  18. i say dc not saying the dd is not good also but for low tuned bumpin i would go dc.

  20. No problem and the -s are 180 degrees out of phase from the +s so 1 amp was 180 out of phase from the other 1

  22. Google mlx-100 and I am sure something will pop up as far as features it has a linedriver a variable bass boost sub sonic filter and a crossover and helps with strapping amps.
  23. That is not necessarily true if you use the right box
  24. Oh and leave both amps in the master position and use the +s only if you are not strapping if you decide to strap them use the -s on the slave and +s on the master but keep both amps in the master position however you decide to run it.
