I have heard some great things about wheelsnext.com over on the Tahoe forum. they said you get everything you need with your wheels. LARGE selection as well just put in what your car is and it will narrow it down

If you have Bose on the suburban it will be a little more tricky to get the head unit to work with your Bose speakers but when the time comes just PM me and I can walk you through it. Its an extra little box called the GMOS and it retains factory chimes and speakers and on other models if you have it the OnStar as well. It plugs into the factory harness and then has an output to the Alpine. It looks like an LOC and has some of the same features but it is necessary. Haha I sound like a CrutchField rep but if you buy from them when I did you get half off the unit if you buy a Head Unit so thats just another reason on top of the fact that I called them when I couldn't get the GMOS to work and they figured it out.

I knew you would be posting in here thanks B I will probably call him first since its an hour away for me. since you know him pretty well could you PM with what his price might be on powder coating some wheels and all the chrome and plastic on my front end like grill and stuff

Any experience with either of those shops? The mom and pop type of thing would be ideal for me. Honestly I don't like dealing with the big corporations but if I have to I will. Plus talking to the owner insures that you get the outcome that you want thanks for the quick reply though guys

Honestly I would save the hassle and get the Alpine. If you buy from Crutchfield I forgot to add that they also give you all the harnesses necessary to complete the install so it makes it way easier on you. That HU also has 3 pre-outs for Front, Rear, and Sub. do you have Bose speakers?

Anyone in the Sacramento/Roseville area know of any good powder coating shops? I want a ton of stuff done on my Tahoe that isn't a rattle can type application. I found some on google but would like opinions on which to stay away from and what not. Thanks

I said it before about the Sundown amp you can't beat it for the price being offered right now. Also an iPod ready Alpine head unit for $135 from a place that usually has a little bit higher prices is a steal. Subs is your choice just make sure you get the ohm loads right.

I don't know what your budget is but I will throw out some good products. So first I would suggest getting a Fi Q they are a very nice sounding sub which means your mom would approve but when you are driving by yourself they can get loud quickly. Second is the amp to power the sub. If you get two subs go with dual 1 ohm voice coils so you can push the most power from the amp to them or if you get one sub get dual 2 so you can still wire down to 1 ohm for most power. Sundown is a very nice quality amp and for the month of July they are having a huge sale so jump on it quick. The SAZ-1000D will power 1 Q very nicely and it is rated at 1,000 watts at 1 ohm. RMS is what you want to look at in both subs and amps. It is the Root Mean Square and is the ideal wattage that your subs can handle. Like other brands Fi will take more than the RMS but don't push it too much. I have a Tahoe and I use the Alpine CDA-9884 which is iPod ready. You don't necessarily need a head unit but it will be easier if you are wanting iPod controls through the deck. Also I bought mine from Crutchfield because it comes with the adapter plate for your car and has tons of instructions. Good luck

its a clarion eq that claims 7v but I think that might be max and rms 4v I'm not sure but it made a world of difference

true that I guess lol it did SOUND louder to the ear. the main point though is less stress on your amps

technically it won't be louder since the gain will be set for 4v. it will put less stress on the amp and your electrical because you aren't having to crank the gain. I did notice a tighter sound with my increase from 2v to right around 7v

yes you need to reset the gain. the purpose of the gain is to match the preout voltage of the source

how many of these threads can we possibly have? build the box right and any of those subs will pound. I have the BL on roughly 1500 watts and it does 145 in my tahoe you do realize that the owner of ascendant audio also owns Fi so the products are fairly similar. and why not look at some other brand?

I read something on here about when you first install a system, your very first one and the bass hits it releases endorphins and everyone knows just like drugs you have to keep getting more and more for it to feel like the first time.
