This kinda happened with me. My 120 gig video is way louder than my 8 gig nano. I used the same exact song, from the same exact Itunes account, on the same exact computer.

They do restrict the subs, that's why you can rum more power to them. Bigger boxes are more efficient, so you can get loud off of low power...Personally, I like my boxes to the big side of the recommended volume. But I don't run much more that rms to my subs.

A smaller box will raise the mechanical limits of the subs...I would go with DC just because of the customer service. I emailed Rusty about running LVL 5's and I had an email back in about 10 minutes, really great guy.

That doesn't seem like enough port area to me. And that seems like it would be a really low tuning imo.

This...With the volume you gave above, a port that is 4" high by 14" wide by X" long would be good per chamber. The length will depend on what you want the box tumed to.

Where do you get that, download, or at a store?

What are the internal volumes of each chamber?

Subtract the volume of the port (including the wood, fiberglass, etc...that it's made with) from your box volume. The folume you get after subtracting all bracing/port/sub displacement is what you're looking for.

I know, I've never done something like that, so thats why I want to. And I know, that's why I said to disregard the measurements. I just threw these together in class, I still have to crunch the numbers on the designs.

These are the two layouts I'm down to. Ignore the measurements, they're just there and don't mean much yet. And sorry about the drawings, I was bored in class a couple days ago. And I don't claim to be an artist haha. Subs low, port above subs. Subs passenger side, port driver side. Just in case someone wanted a visual.

...What subs are these?.. And about the wiring...Just run 4 seperate 8 awg runs to the sub, then connect both positives and both negetives at the terminal (bolt) on the box. Or if you just want to run the wire through the box, just trim a little off of each.

8 cubes and about 120 sq. inches of port to 35Hz should do.

So your saying it could be loud, but not sound too good?

Ya that's what I was thinking about that idea. I highly doubt I'll go that route, I just figured I'd throw it out there.

I'm starting a new build for my two DP 21"s in my Expedition, and I'm looking for some ideas. My ideas are in the above poll. Right now I have a subs up, port back setup. Current box is 20 cubes with 300 sq. inches of port at 32Hz. I'm looking at about the same volume and tuning for my wall as well. Possibly tuned a little lower, I loves my lows. The wall will be to the b-pillars. I'm basically looking to get as loud as possible on music, but this is for daily, so it's not going to be a burp monster. All votes, comments, and suggestions are appreciated.
