  1. hatches are a great starting shape for a wall. PLUS the depth of the back cab and angle of the hatch are a great advantage for increasing your port velocity!! wall it and you'll love it! just be sure to seal the rear off and things will go smoothly
  2. damn! that 10 is getting after it man! how does the sub like having a box that big?
  3. yuck. im sorry to hear haha. i dont remember off the top of my head... something like 6.5"x25"x17" or so.
  4. great stuff will never ever come off of your interior lol. its ridiculous stuff to remove. i taped plastic drop cloth to my doors and then sprayed the gap with foam. i only went about 4" back, as i didnt want to use like 20 cans of it lol. And yes, the foam goes all the way around my baffle. the roof, floor, and both doors are sprayed with foam to hold the pressure.
  5. nah, the car isnt all that crazy but i do appreciate it. I recently saw a guy on youtube who managed to squeeze 4 18s into his 92-95 civic hatch... and that instantly made my car look way less cool haha. My mids and Highs are on the "slacking" side of things, but im happy with them. Running (1) pair of 6" Kicker KS Coaxils on an older 100ish rms Alpine amp that im borrowing from a friend. but i have to! if i roll my windows down, the flex multiplies by quite a bit and starts to destroy things in the car. thank you, much appreciated! wow, thats awesome. I never figured people would want to have an ugly wall like i have alts wise, im running an Iraggi 170 in the stock location and a 99 ford taurus alternator mounted to the AC Compressor location (130amp) thanks for the link! that video shows the basics of my system (circa summer time 2011) but some things have changed like my amplifier setup
  6. i've had a problem with spiders and tinsel leads ripping out on every sub under 18". atleast you'll have fresh subs when its all done
  7. ah.. the real old days lol. i havent had someone mention my old setups in a long while. the theft sucked but i had new equipment installed about a week after that happened. These new cones shouldnt have any issues playing for another year. I just need to be smart about how i play them. the only reason my other set blew was because of stupidity on my end... live and learn i guess
  8. i just need to fix my roof again. expanding foam and sound deadener only lasted 3 months with all of that abuse..
  9. finally got my recones and wanted to see how the fresh 18s would react to a single 2000 watt amp. turns out that everything is still pretty nasty!
  10. dual alts in a civic is easy! i did my bracket and it only cost about $20 to make haha
  11. i'll be peeking at this. i ran across a video of your old setup on youtube and my jaw dropped. to think i was the only one with a decently big/loud setup in a 95 civic please keep us posted
  12. WOW. i have been waiting for this day to come for quite some time! Congrats on the purchase, Orion!
  13. any concern on basket strength/ integrity? The pictures make the upper portion of the basket (at the surround landing) appear to be fairly thinned out from the rest of the material.
  14. i have a degree in collision repair and refinishing, and im going to warn you now that this is far from a cake walk. with the questions you are asking here, i wouldnt suggest that you do ANY painting at all. prep is 99% of any GOOD paint job. every piece of your car needs to be scuffed, any dent needs to be fixed, and all trim and windows should be pulled if you expect the paint job to last more than a year before peeling and flaking begin. once the body is 100% straight and smooth (absolutely NO hard lines, anywhere!!!!!!!!!) you need to tac-rag and degrease the whole car. do it twice or three times to be sure. DO NOT degrease the car using a towel that leaves cloth behind and DO NOT use a towel that has any sort of fabric softener or cleaner on it. using a HPLV gun with a 1.6 or 1.7 tip, lay down 2 or 3 coats of primer or sealer, then wet sand the whole car to remove any rough textures left from the spray gun pattern. you will then need to degrease and tac-rag the car a few more times to remove particles and contaminates from the surface. once the car is clean, you can begin to shoot your basecoat with a 1.3 or 1.4 tip. work your way from top to bottom, and do not "stop" spraying at the edge of any panel (you are most likely to create runs when doing so)after a few light-medium coats of base coat, let it dry for the recommended period of time. once the base is 100% dry and the chemicals have evaporated from the paint, tac-rag the car again to remove the dust that has settled, and begin to spray your clear coat with the same 1.3 or 1.4 sized tip. DO NOT USE CHEAP CLEAR. clear is what will make or break any paint job. once you are finshed spraying clear down, let it dry for the recommended time, and then from there, you can begin to wet sand the orange peel out of the finish (be careful to not sand down into the basecoat/primer/sealer... this is where the 100% smooth body and proper paint-layer-thickness is very important) from there you can buff and polish the car and enjoy the fruits of your labor. but from a man who has painted numerous cars... don't do it. paying a REPUTABLE shop the money is much more worth it if you dont know what you're doing. p.s. i left out many steps of the process. if you decide to try it, buy a few books on correct painting techniques, lighting techniques, ventilation techniques, prep techniques, etc. .02 -Derek
  15. sorry but i'm not interested in level 5s. i really don't like they way that they sound. by modded, i mean that the power supplies were rebuilt by DB-R 2 years ago, and when they came back (to my rep) he was clamping an extra 500-600 watts out of each of his (4) that he owned. All of the internal components were beefed up quite a bit and have been working great ever since.
  16. I don't know if I would call it indecisive so much as I would call it lazy. I know how big a pain it is making a wall pretty. I DO know that this build has remained relatively the same as far as the enclosure goes, so that tells me you are happy with the way it performs. What I'm trying to say is get to work and make it pretty for the ladies. im very pleased with how the enclosure performs, and that is why it has remained almost entirely untouched for over a year. The reason i called it indecisiveness is because i have never been able to decide if i want to stain the baffle (its birch wood), paint it black, or carpet/vinyl it. tough! I was using my "new" DC amps when i finally popped the coil. the system ran flawlessly on the aq3500 for 11 months, and they DAY i installed my new amps.... "poof" when that coil lol. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT XLS ARE RATED AT 1500RMS and at 1500 rms they were killer and never had any trouble at all. as soon as i bumped up to the 2000-2500 range, the smallest clipped signal completely fried that coil. i let me voltage dip under 12 and that is (presumably) what caused my issue to occur (especially on modified DC amps strapped @1)
  17. hahahhaha. yea man... the wall is ugly as shit. im too indecisive to "finsh" it though. maybe this go-around i will
  18. its the name of the game! things go kaboom from time to time
  19. it was a great amp in every aspect of what you want a great amp to be. It was efficient as hell, played very fluidly, never got hot, etc. it was honestly the best amp i have ever owned, and thats why i plan on purchasing another one.
  20. i was doing a 152 on the dash on 2500 clamped watts out of the AQ on the XLs. and i could literally play them all day everyday with zero issues what-so-ever. im not a number chaser at all, im just in it for a loud daily.... ya know? lol PLUS my whole goal with building my wall/system was to do hairtricks... and ANYBODY who watches my videos will see that it does nasty fucking hairtricks
  21. probably not going to upgrade it at all. I sold my Audioque 3500D.1, and i regret every bit of it.... so i plan on reconing to dual .7s rather than dual 1s, and buying another AQ3500 for my daily civic.... my civic wagon winter beater will get 1 DC 18 on a DC 2000.1 for this winter. Gotta have some bang for each car, ya know all of it is on the backburner for a while though as i cant afford to keep spending money on audio
