  1. Powered off of what amp? How much RMS power? What enclosures? Sealed? Ported? Lotsa variables here...
  2. Any ideas? Or should I suck it up and try and find a new HU with a USB port?
  3. I could still run a 3.5mm male-to-male cable in the aux port though, right? ...Or is that 'aux' port even for that sort of use? Is there any other way I could play my iPod through my head unit?
  4. I was looking towards a monoblock for the subsonic filters. I was also not sure if the heat produced by my amp was a result of bridging, as I ran the same amp with each sub powered by a separate channel and the heat buildup (and sound levels) dropped dramatically.
  5. I got a newer model iPod Nano in the mail today. After putting all my music on it, I tried hooking it up to my Sony CDX-GT620IP HU, and it would not operate the iPod through the cable in the back of the unit. I tried to change songs and I got a "COM ERROR" message on the screen of the HU. Any ideas as to what this could be and how to fix it? My older Nano works just fine with the same cable...
  6. I may suck it up and do that then. I am still open to any ideas though; this will take a while to save money, regardless of what amp I buy. EDIT: upon looking at the Audioque site, it will be very hard to change my mind off of it. I welcome anyone and everyone to try though

  8. Will I have to upgrade my electrical to run the audioque? I don't wanna spend $50 more only to roast the amp cuz I can't afford to do the big 3 and don't have a HO alt.
  9. What would you recommend then? As I said I cannot spend more than $200 shipped...

  11. This will probably be it for quite a few years unless I roast some gear or get a new car. just something to hold me over for a couple years.
  12. a 4x8 of 3/4 runs about $30 at the local Menard's...haven't looked anywhere else. If I build a box like I want to, it will be out of remnants...=/
  13. Just looking for about 5-600rms as stated, so I wouldn't have to run it at 1 ohm. I like that it has a cooling fan though...
  14. I am in the market for a new amp, considering that my 350w amp tends to broil under its current load. I am looking for 500-600 watts RMS at either 4 or 1 ohm, preferably for less than $200 shipped. I am scouring Sonic Electronix as I speak and came up with some ideas: (all prices + S&H) Phoenix Gold Ryval V8001- $150 MB Quart DSC 500.1- $150 Sony XM-GTR6001- $150 Power Acoustik LFA1-2000D- $160 Hifonics BXi 610 (BXi610)- $160 Kenwood KAC-9103D- $170 I was wondering if anyone had used any of these and would be able to offer some insight as to whether or not they are decent amps. I am not looking for top-of-the-line, super clean power; just something to match my entry-level 10" type S subs. Thanks in advance for the help, -Austin
  15. Any vids with the cardboard enclosures? That woulda been funny to watch...
  16. From what I have heard, Fi's LOVE lots of airspace. I have heard that much space may be okay for SSD10's, but for anything bigger...I would say either one Bl in the box with the center baffle taken out, or do a blow-thru if you really want two subs.
  17. Im only familiar with one local stereo shop and I will not be taking my gear anywhere near them... As for US Amps over Sony: X2. I was just looking for something close to my 500wRMS target for cheap. I will probably not be upgrading this setup in this car. Maybe if(when) I get a different vehicle I will do a full-on build, but this car does NOT like me or bass in the least...
  18. Sounds like a deal. I'll try that and see what happens.
  19. So if I do buy that sucker, just crank the gains down? I'm just nervous about overpowering those woofers...
  20. That's what I figured, just thought maybe I could find a job as like a parts/tool runner or something like that.
  21. What's it rated to at 4 ohms? I'm looking for about 500-550 rms, either at 4 or 1 ohm...1200rms will roast my subs... If it helps, subs are listed below, Alpine type S 10" dual 4's, 300rms each. How much should I expect to use for big 3? Alt is on passenger side rear of engine, batt is driver's front...1996 Grand Prix 4-door...I'll try to find an engine bay pic if needed.
  22. Summer's coming up and I am going to be looking for a job soon. I don't want to work fast food again, and while making decent money for a local grocer seems appealing, I want to look at some other options. Does anyone have any recommendations for summer jobs that involve car audio? I don't know if there are any around for a 17 year old, but if I can find somewhere that will pay even like seven or eight bucks an hour where I can learn how to install and such, I would take that over any other job. Any ideas/spots where you guys started out?
  23. Okay, I'll see what I can do as far as that... Any ideas on doing big 3 on the cheap? I really dont have $100+ to spend on 1/0...
