  1. It shouldnt hurt them bc when you play them you run the subs a lot harder.
  2. Do you happen to have a bad rca? try troubleshooting it as best you can. Its not like alternator whine is it?
  3. sounds like interference, you have any power wires and rca's that are close to each other?
  4. Check out my build as well. I stuffed 4 real 12's (not shallow mounts) in my standard cab S-10 in a 3.9 cube box. It was pretty easy but I had to go with 1/2" mdf which is my only regret.
  5. Yeah I really like it. I have a blue point as well. my grandfather gave it to me but its just been chilling in my tool box. Iv got a pretty old fluke too, but i dont use it bc its not as easy as my ideal, the ideal meter is auto ranging= way easier to use.
  6. The other wire goes from your engine block to ground. & i got an IDEAL dmm from lowes for $60. I just went and bought the best one they had & its probably been the most helpful tool iv bought.
  7. ^^^^^x2 I know that soundstream wanted me to go to 15 shows for level 1 sponsorship, 25 shows for level 2 and 25+ shows with magazine coverage for level 3. Thats a lot of shows for me bc there arent that many around.
  8. x2 A guy in town had a xxx4000 and now runs a opti 4000, and on competition days he straps 2 of them together.
  9. for cooling I would maybe out a small computer fan in each side of the case. one pushing, one pulling. that way you would have a constant flow of air through the case which would help a lot with the internal temp which means more power.
  10. They are suggesting that you use that to mount the amp to. It would act as the case.
  11. I wanna know how this goes bc I built a box for 2 RE 15's based on RE's specs which was 36 hz. Both time the truck has been metered it peaked at 41 hz. So wouldnt a 41 hz box be louder since it matches the trucks resonant frequency?
  12. I may be wrong but iv heard that an amp has to be in a metal case bc the mosfet's have to be grounded out for the amp to work? correct me if im wrong.
  13. No, It needs to be 8.5 feet long based on the center point of the port so that it stays consistent.
  14. You technically can change the tuning by adding fill to the box and or using bricks & stuff to change the internal volume. But, its my understanding that a 1x1x1 sealed box is used to determine your tuning frequency.
  15. You must be thinking of something else. The range doesnt really matter bc most mono & 2ch amps have a certain freq output range thats adjustable on the amp. I have mine cut off at around 100hz & 25hz on the subsonic filter
  16. I just sealed 4 12's & they get really loud. sealed boxes are only good when space is tight and you have lots of power though. I think ported is the best option.
  17. Lol thats not cramped. this is but for real, I think its pretty safe to say that we all love walled vehicles. That option gets my vote. walls ftw!
  18. I would think that 4k would be louder since they are both 15's, so your not gaining or losing any cone area, but your gaining wattage =higher numbers right?
  19. x2 But I have a standard cab S-10 with 4 12's & i heard it for the first time today on one amp (waiting on the second) & it was loud as hell. atleast 145.
  20. Fuses can be suprising. Iv got a 60A Anl running my stax 4000 (1 ohm amp) @ .5 ohms and it holds great. I was really suprised.
  21. Theres a guy in town and his ports are black taped to the his box. There pretty rigged and they shoot out of the box & hit the back door. it sounds like a gun shot, no joke.
  22. ^^^^very nice for 2 12's. Fusion components are pretty cheap if you buy them online & they can take some power if you get the powerplant series. In my opinion Soundstream makes some nice mids/highs amps at a good price. you can get the stealth series too which is a really small amp for $300. I think your paying for the size more than anything though.
