  1. Try Memphis PR's or Kicker CVR's. You can get some Memphis PR's for about ~$60 at a local stereo shop. They sound good for the price IMO.
  2. X2. If you're buying a 1000 Watt RMS x 2 amp for $ 139.99, then you know there is something wrong. A good, 1000 watt rms amp will run you over $300. BTW, what subs will you be powering?
  3. x2. I was about to tell the guy, "why would it be different?", but then gave it more thought.
  4. That is interesting. How would you do that? No speaker leads can be connected to the amp while setting it up so is it the same with different ohm loads?
  5. Haha, yea. The hilarious part is where he's like "you can do the window,..Opps that's the navigation screen."
  6. bkolfo4: See I told ya'll I'm not smart. LOL! But why is it "underpowered"(As some say) speakers blow then?
  7. I responded with this: "It all about the gains! Volume is everything also. You think the a 1000 watt rms amp is constantly putting out 1000 watts rms at every volume level? No it's not.Especially after impedance rise, voltage, etc. The amp gain is there to set it to HU voltage/output level. Yes I know powering a 2000 watt rms woofer with 4000 watts rms will blow it but like I said not if it's for short periods of time and gains are set to not clip and voltage is up to par. Like when you burp in comps. They give subs over twice their RMS and manage not to blow them. Of course over a period of time they will eventually blow/damage. The whole point of my argument is to say underpowering does not blow speakers, DISTORTION is. When someone stupid hooks up 100 watt amp to a 500 watt woofer and doesn't think it's loud enough, so they turn up the gains is when they send the amp into clipping and thus causing the sub to blow. But if you're smart you can give 1,500 Watts to a 1000 watt woofer daily/safely. And the speaker's voice coils won't heat quicker if there given "underpowered" power. They will if they're given too much power, or clipped power but not for a little unclipped power. If that were true then at lower volume levels where the amp isn't pushin full tilt it would constantly get hot. But yet if you give it it's RMS it won't get as hot? Yea looks like logic isn't involved in your statement. I'm 17 years old, I don't have anykind of degree. But I don't need a license to know how to drive, know what I mean,"
  8. He also said this in the morning. "Sorry for not being so eloquent but I forgot to add that volume has absolutely nothing to do with it, and also a 1000 watt sub on 300 watts wouldn't produce much sound the gain would have to be turned up so high that you would clip and cause distortion which would damage the speaker, I was a little rude sorry about that just needed to give appropriate knowledge"
  9. No he's on another forum, not related to audio. Do ya'll want me to post the link up so yall can bash on him? Please! I'm smart on car audio but not the smartest. Probably smarter then that guy who says this also. He says I know wut I am talking about until I see "advanced level MECP" "certfcations" or proof you have been installing for more than 16 years full time don't say it's "all about gains" because u clearly are not correct I'm 17 years old and know more than him. LOL!
  10. That may be true because of people being stupid. They want the 500 watt sub to get louder with their 250 watt amp so they turn up the amp and send clipped power causing it to blow. It's not the underpowering, but the clipped/distorted signal.
  11. So this guy is arguing that underpowering a speaker will blow it. I told him its all about gains/volume/electrical and distortion. I then asked him what happened when the volume was on low? he responded with this "Lol I'm not gunna start an arguing war here, u obviously have no I dea wut ur talking about then, RMS stands for root mean square in otherwords u need 100 watts rms means the amp needs to give the speaker 100 rms if underpowered the speaker doesn't have the effeciency to drve the motor structure and the voice coils will heat quicker to compensate, on the other hand too much power over rms will result in liquidation on the coil and cause the motor structure to seize which can blow the speaker either way, clearly I know wut I am talking about until I see "advanced level MECP" "certfcations" or proof you have been installing for more than 16 years full time don't say it's "all about gains" because u clearly are not correct"
  12. Videos downloaded from iTunes would definitely be better quality than videos you download Online/Limewire/Illegally. Music might also be tad better. Not much though. I would only get an iPod to hook up to my headunit cause there is alot of headunits that integrate iPod almost virtually onto the screen which is pretty cool.
  13. Damn! Might as well buy a Ferrari.... and maybe a house or two. But man I can't wait till you finish this to start on the Hoe. If you need encouragement to start on the Tahoe you know where to find it.
  14. Yea, it gives that extra feel of feedback. It's pretty awesome. I'm thinking of selling my MP3 Player and using this as one since it has a MicroSD Card Holder.
  15. So I finally got a good phone. My first phone was some cheap, free T-Mobile Phone, Second was a used Razr V3, Now...I have the LG Xenon and AT&T! First of all service is much better than T-Mobile. Reception is definitely noticeably better. The phone is awesome. The touchscreen is very responsive, and it just knows what you're trying to touch. The keyboard is very easy to use and very comfortable. I give this phone 5 Stars/*****. Now the pics for the pic whores.
  16. For you information,...It's a 12" in a tiny box! Now that I look at it more, I think it's a 15". If so Damn you're choking that sub to DEATH!!!!
  17. What voice coil configuration are they? (Dual, Single Voice coil? Ohm?)
  18. Why not just do a slot port? Way less expensive, easy,
  19. Well the area of a 3" circle is 4.71 sq. in. So having a minumum of 12 sq in per cube = (5 Cubes * 12) = 60 60/4.71= 12.74 = Which is how many ports you'll need. But I too read somewhere where it stated for aero ports it's less.
  20. Whoa that one 3" Port is not enough port area. You're gonna get ALOT of port noise., and probably won't sound loud/pleasant/etc. For about 5 cubes (Each Cubic Ft. needs 12-18 Sq. in. of port area) To have enough port area for 3" ports you would need about 10 or 11. To have enough for 4" ports you would need about 6 About 2 or 3 for 6" ports Edit: I have to use minimum of 1 6" port for my 12" Sub. Too much port area is also bad, Just sell that port and do a slot port.
