  1. This came to mind after I was washin my car at the car wash (manual wash) Does bumpin your system help the water wash off tha dirt?
  2. I never fill up my tank cause then I end up driving around more often and farther.
  3. Bassbox Pro is hella tough to use. I still can't figure it out! The one thing I was looking forward to is an illustration or blueprint type model I could print out. But it doesn't even render what it should look like. Nor does it give ya the cutouts you should end up with. Lame
  4. Damn! Crazy stuff.. I hope I didn't throw the alpines out of alignment!!! Even then it's my first pair of subs. If Fi is still top notch by the time I save up enough for a pair I'll grab em that's for sure.
  5. Damn other than the VC's lookin fried I'm not sure what to look for. Thanks for the pic, what should I be lookin for? Edit: Unless the coil literally is extending out from where it used to be. The subs don't look that deep on your bed!
  6. DAMN!!! That sucks!! How much force does it take to bend it? If I'm hearing a scrape am I already bending it?
  7. I know that when you hear a scraping sound with a subwoofer, it could be blown. I noticed that when I push on my subs in the center, there's no scraping. But when I'm pushing around the edges, I hear scraping along the top portions of each cone, and it's a little stiffer. When I push along the bottom, I hear nothing. Is this indicative of anything?
  8. Clipping on my subs sound like a thick rattling... the bass starts getting messy on faster beats. It's very apparent once you've heard them with more voltage than the amp or sub is rated for.
  9. My bad I forgot to mention 150 each http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-SWR-1242D-12-...2489&sr=8-1
  10. Type-R 1242d's are cheap and sound fantastic =) 500wRMS/1500wMax Note: You can get two for 150 bucks shipped (each)
  11. Screw trunk space Tell him to stuff his craigslist victims in the backseat instead ha jk
  12. That's a good idea, but I'm also looking to destroy the lows... This is a tough decision
  13. No matter how hard you try, inmates get word of the crimes you commit in no time. He'll be the town bicycle in prison.
  14. True sorry to resurrect this =P Hopefully there'll be some people out there that didn't know about cold weatehr and subs?
  15. Hi! I figured I'd ask this forum since people here would know the most about Fi's. Basically I'm looking to upgrade my system, bit by bit. I'm thinking of either getting one 15" Fi BTL with a Hifonics BXi 2610d, and then when I get more money I'll be able to upgrade to another 15" Fi BTL and another Hifonics BXi 2610d. The enclosure for those is probably is as big as an enclosure can get in my trunk (I still have a pretty huge trunk). However I would have to set the 15"s facing down or up, and I'm not sure how that'll affect my sound quality/loudness. I'm also thinking of getting one 12" Fi BTL / Hifonics BXi 2610d, and then upgrading eventually until I have three 12"s. This way the 12"s will be able to face me or face the trunk lid, and this is how my setup is currently. I'm curious if the two 12"s @4000w RMS will sound as comparable or CLEANER than two 15"s @4000w RMS. If so I could at least upgrade to 6000w RMS by getting another 12". If I got the 15"s I'd be stuck at 4000wRMS (which is still a lot). I listen to a lot of rap, underground and gangsta rap. Would the BOOM be bigger on one 15" or would one 12" pretty much sound the same? I definitely want a lot of bass but if I can keep it not-muddy that's my goal.
  16. I actually ripped a cone from a spider on a Type-R by blasting it with 1200w of power in 20 degree weather without warming up =) =)
  17. Incredible. I do web design and damn that guy is a pro with Flash.
  18. When I first got my two Alpine Type-R's, I played them @ full tilt right away with maxed gains and of course a distorted signal. This was before I discovered a multimeter, and what distortion sounds like... All I know is that these two subs ended up failing within a month, and were getting their rated 500w RMS (distorted tho). So on my next pair, after exchanging them at Best Buy, I played them @ half-gain and took my time breaking it in. I listened to it at half power for about 5 days. After that I gave them a solid 31.6v @ 50hz and they sound much better than the first pair did. Maybe it's a myth maybe it's not! But it definitely sounds better, even if its placebo. If I were you I'd take it easy on them, you can't just wang on them right away cause IMO subs are fragile as shit in reality. You can in a competition but thats why they recone. Suck it up and play it half volume for the first week. If it helps the longevity of the subs and/or the sound, then sacrificing one week for those benefits is worth it. Plus, you have something to look forward to when you end up turning up the gain...
