  1. Here is the atfermath first burn till lights out. All the kids and most certainly the parents all enjoyed it. Alot of the typical "hey you know your pumpkin is on fire?" One lady driving by actually slammed on her brakes and jumped out came runnig up to my house thinking it was not suppose to be. lol Only burnt a little bit of grass it will grow back.
  2. Personally i would never go that large on a pair of 18s, unless i was putting a god awefully large port in and making a ss no wall box. lol Not for daily though. and for tuning it depends on what you want from it. Some people like super lows and nothing useful for music, others like a musical tone, and some spl. For example i like sharp tight accurate bass and i have had good luck tuning around 40 Hz to acheive this.
  3. I just hope i dont burn down my tree in the front yard.
  4. Ya last year i did a A Team one. figured i would do the DC this year.
  5. But he already has one, its a 1098 Ferrari. :
  6. Half the box is port you should have mentioned that lol. I would maybe then try larger if thats the case. Like i said never used the lv5 in street but it may like a bigger being as big as it is. No prob on the bandpass advice, lol easiest advice i have ever given.
  7. What do you think? Tried to make a face out of it ahha. Wait till tomorrow night i will get some explosive pics of Mr. DC Pumpkinhead.
  8. So thats what 4.5 cubes net volume for both subs? I have not played with the DC in street class but when i did do street 10s liked 1 cube each. Maybe try a smaller box as a suggestion it will help by offering more loading to the sub. granted wont be as musical. And bandpass in street class dont waste your time. A ported box is far better in street.
  9. I will telly ou this i tested a single lv5 12 4 spiders in my truck last year with 20k clamped power from a pair of Stetsom 7kds. It held fine, BUT this was in a 4th order, not a street ported box. 4th order you can put huge power on a sub and not run into loading issues if its proper. My guess is your sub nearest the port aka Frank is always the first to let go? Curious how big is your box?
  10. I would like to know what you are building humm?
  11. No it is a totally different motor then the lv5. Much larger, infact uses the same size magnets as the other 4hp motors. The lv6 uses much beefier top and bottom plates. That makes all the difference not the magnets. Now back at Rob 6 spiders!!!!!!
  12. New surrounds well ill be!!! Looks good, has there been many issues with the half roll surround besides you Rob? I know i have never had any.
  13. Thanks for the props Rusty. =) and i even see the home page is updated with the 161.8 you must had to kick Biddy in the butt awefully hard today. lol Cant wait to see a new sub listed on that site too in the future, maybe with my name on it just like seems to be the way with bassracers.
  14. With Jimbo? Hell no!!! haha Poor thing wouldnt make that trip, nor would i have the time to drive 45+ hours each way. Have always wanted to go check SBN out though.
  15. Not to bad, i have you beat by 4 dB 3 years ago :tease: Although loud in the box isnt good.
  16. He wouldnt lie. Tis the song i tried, would have been much louder with some voltage behind my amps. Gonna look into dropping down to some 24-27 hz songs. http://www.macrom.it/ There you go. The EXT line is ridiculous.
  17. Yes i swear the Stetsom haters still hold a grudge because of Dante and forget the fact that these are amazing amps. I mean i listen to my stuff to and from shows, hit the show and compete in every available format, amps work great never give me problems. People who blow these up i would like to see their installs, and how they have then tuned because im sure they did something to cause the failure. As for you Legman if its between Stetsom or SD its Stetsom all the way. haha
  18. I should also mention at this show my alts were not working properly as my relay for the voltage regulator had come unplugged sowhere along the way. Even though pulled out some decent #s without trying to hard. haha 163.8 db drag, 161 bassrace, and 158.x @ 32hz phychlone.
  19. Ya i will tell you right now 8 XLs take alot more power then 5 lv5s. From my experience the XLs are a better daily sub hands down to the lv5, and if i had the room i would do as many lv3s as i could fit, but i dont have a astro. Here are some vids from the show 2 weeks ago. You can see the steering wheel flex. haha Dont ask why that dude wanted to sit in there. He kept bugging me to hear Jimbo so i let his take a listen.
  20. Remember the XL has the same suspension as the lv5 does. Honestly i have never ripped a surround on any of my DCs. I had that problem with DD subs once in a while. Have you used Shoo Goo to fix your surrounds? That stuff works wonders, much better then duct tape. And if the surrounds are ripping apart you probably should look into the enclosure as to why. 167 in the port? Nice score.
  21. haha Ok gotcha. Well also my second steering column is on it way out. The flex on the column and steering wheel destroys the tilt knuckle. But now that it is starting to break it wont take long for it to be as bad as in 2008 on the way home from finals. that was scary!
  22. Looks awesome, good choice on the lv3s.
  23. That is a leathal combo the old DC and Stetsom. :dj: Curious have you tried the lv 4 or the XL in place of the lv5 in your car? I would think for a few reasons they could possibley be louder.
