  1. Thanks man. It looks good. It's ok about the rims, I didn't expect something that shiny to get too dark on Photoshop. But it doesn't take away from the overall aggressive look. I'm quite happy with the way it looks all blacked out. I may one day grow a sack and do it. LOL.
  2. Alright, I'll keep the ducting or whatever it's called. But what about a new fan? I'm no stranger to desktop computers, but laptops are like Mars, I've never seen the insides till the other day. LOL. The reason I'm upgrading is, it's too expensive to buy or build anew one (at least for now). I have some money that I'm willing to spend, but not much, just enough to get it running properly. EDIT: I just got Acronis in the mail today (Best buy shipped via USPS for some reason). Anyway, what letter would I use as the partition to copy over to my new drive? I can't select C and I'm not sure what to use. Help please?
  3. OK, so I was bored yesterday and created a sketchup for you application. (Yeah, I was that bored). You want to see it?
  4. Yep, and if your willing to lose some sheetmetal, 6! Ok, now I gotta go do a sketchup, cause I'm interested in this now. Any updates? You got anything ordered or what?
  5. 3" sounds too hollow IMO. Go 2.5". Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Cherrybomb. All good choices, but I've never used a Flowmaster or Magnaflow, so I can't comment on them.
  6. I've noticed that some people have actual sketchup models of the subs they are going to use on their sketchups. Do ya'll make them on the spot? Or is there a place where they can be downloaded?
  7. Nope. My dad has an 04 crown vic and the trunk is at least that tall. It's a lot of space that could be used for some serious destrucktion. There's enough airspace for (5) LVL 5 12"s (assuming you use the shelf at the front too).
  8. That article sounds like it was written back when 100 watt amps were considered to be the most powerful amps money could buy. That was way before my time though. But I agree with what was said above. If you are running less than 1000 watts and the RMS of the amp is less than the RMS of the sub, just set it by ear. Otherwise, Oscope. Or multimeter if you don't have access to an Oscope. Not as good, but it'll get the job done.
  9. Thanks for finding those for me, but those are desktop cases. I'm talking about laptops.
  10. Subtrat wood thickness from those measurements(sp?) and multiply the 3 numbers together. Then divide the answer by 1728. You'll wanta use at least 1" wood (just to be on the safe side) so: 48-1=47 28-1=27 47 * 27 * 27 = 34,263 34,263 / 1728 = 19.8 So 19.8 cubic feet using 1" thick wood (assuming the measurements you gave are correct). With that much airspace, you could make it out of double layered 1" thick wood (for a total of 2" thickness) and still have about 17.99 cubic feet. EDIT: Not including internal bracing, of course. EDIT: Well crap. I just used an online calc to check my math, and either it's ****** up or my math is, cause with 2" wood thickness, it's giving me 14.667 cubic feet. Still plenty, but less than what I got originally. EDIT: found the problem. My math was off, but quite a lot.
  11. Hmmm... I'll definitely have to think about that. Thanks for the info.
  12. If I had the money. Course, if I had the money to do half the crap I constantly think about, I'd have a 2005 Corvette with stock trim and a 1500 HP engine under the hood. I honestly did not expect it to be that bad. I knew they cheaped out on some things, but I didn't figure on how much. I'm definitely building my next one from scratch. HP, what's that?
  13. Well several thing will happen, not the least of which your brakes likely won't be able to hold the car back (meaning no stopping ever again). Don't do it, 1K is as high as I'd ever go on any vehicle.
  14. Just turned it on. OMG, this think is a lot faster! OH, and BTW, the HDD needs replacing because I dropped it and for a time it quit working. It started working again (thanks to some, uhh, percusive maintenace but it's on it's last leg). I've temporarily got everything copied over to my 250Gb external backup drive (at least what I could get) and will replace it to my new drive when it gets here.
  15. OH, and I forgot to mention, the HDD has a thin metal bar that the screws attach too (the HDD cover uses the exact same screws, so they do double duty) and it's bent (apparently it was too big and had to be "modified" to fit). :01nocomment8so: And I've honestly only ever used 1 Dell, and it had superior cooling to mine. No matter how hard I pushed it, it never broke a sweat. It was someone elses, but dang I wish I had it after seeing the inside of mine. Mine kept burning my legs after a while. The only reason I'm keeping it is, it was ok fast for running Vista on 1 gig of memory (stock) and a 1.6 GHz AMD CPU and I can't really afford another now. Plus, I've had it since December '06 (yeah, that old) so I know it pretty well.
  16. I know, but this one has no airflow or any attempt at cooling. I can understand cheaping out, but wouldn't have been cheaper to use less plastic? (there's quite a lot of it in here, a couple dollars worth at the least). Yes, it's a laptop. A very big one (15" widescreen I think). I wish I had a pic, but my camera is no where to be found. It's getting the works next summer. At least a 50 CFM fan, as much plastic as I feel I can get away with removing is gonna be gone. New wireless card (I can't believe it was removeable).
  17. Ok, so I just opened my computer to clean it out. Guess what? Horrible construction! Plastic crap everywhere! The fan is covered on 4 sides by plastic with NO HOLES AT ALL for any sort of airflow to other crucial components! Plastic sticky crap (kinda like invisible tape but thicker) all over the CPU and most of the MOBO! WTH was HP thinking?! Were the designers high or something?! First chance I get, I'm taking a dremel to it to open it up for airflow. On the good side, my new 2x1Gb memory sticks are now in. I'm letting it charge before turning it on (no real reason, other than I want to). My new 500 GB hard drive will be here tuesday at the latest (I dropped the money on one because I wanted it). BTW, it's a V6000 model. New fan and all the works next summer.
  18. If you want, get an early 90's 700R4. I know you may have heard they're not reliable, but after 89, they fixed most of the issues. More specifically, get a 92 or 93 700R4. Look for one with the words K1500 4WD on it. Get a good shift kit, and pretty much upgrade everything you can to the strongest parts you can get. Then you'll literaly have a bullet proof tranny. I should know, I have one. Best tranny ever. Just keep some fluids in it and it'll take all the abuse you can give it.
  19. Car looks good. May have missed it (and I'm too lazy to re-read) but what kind of engine? And tranny?
  20. GL on the build. I'll be watching when you post the build log. As for the engine, cold air intake (K&N and Airaid come to mind) and a completely redone exhaust would be your best bet. It'll cost you, but well worth the money. It would increase HP and, when you put the system in, would help your mileage (though it may not be noticeable at first, your wallet won't feel as light after a fill-up as it would otherwise). OH, and sorry to hear about your dad.
  21. I can't find one myself. Good luck with it. And sorry I can't find it.
  22. That's easy, post a link to the build in the youtube description!. LOL. But it works
