  1. Thanks for the link, I'll look into it. As for the carputer, I completely forgot the RAM. I found some new components. I was able to cut the price. Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811144232 MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813157158 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103628 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820134045 HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136075 Sound Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16829271001 Does anyone have any objections about the components I've chosen?
  2. On a quick side note, I hate people who pull up to you in their $50,000 car that Mommy and Daddy bought for them and start trash talking your ride because it isn't as expensive as theirs. I've had people do that to me and I keep my truck looking good. I hardly have any problems with my truck. The only major problem is my engine needs cleaning and it needs a new paint job. That and the occasional switch randomly flipping on and draining the battery and subsequently needing a jumpstart or tow... I have gotten mad at my truck before, but it didn't last long. I would never get rid of it.
  3. I'll post a build log. Can anyone point me in the direction of any cheaper components that are equal to what I chose? And I haven't been able to find any USB touchscreens for cheap. Most were $200+.
  4. I have a Windows XP disc around here somewhere (I have to find it). I have a small 15" monitor that I have to find a location for (if I can't find a location, I can buy a smaller one). I have a 3000 watt and 600 watt inverter for use in my truck (not yet installed).
  5. I've been looking at components for my carputer that I plan on building. I was looking at spending less than $300 if possible. These are the components I've chosen so far: Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811144232 MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813135240 Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103687 HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136075 Sound card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16829271001 Unfortunately, the price comes out to $320. Does anyone know any components that would be just as good but slightly cheaper. I would prefer a processor that runs at at least 2.5Ghz. I would also prefer a hard drivegreater than 100 GB. Also, I would prefer to buy from Newegg. Thanks in advance.
  6. Where can I buy? LOL, that'd be nice. But I wonder how heavy it is...
  7. Which one has higher quality in your opinion? And what are the interfaces?
  8. Ouch! Those cards are high. Let's put it this way, my per month budget is about the same as those cards. Do you have anything a bit lower? Do you think the 5.1 would be good enough for my system? I'm could probably run the mids and subs off the same channel as long as I use seperate amps. If so, how much do you want for the 5.1? I don't have anything worth trading. And I'm about to blow my money this weekend on MDF and glass, so I won't be able to buy right away.
  9. Ever since my HU went screwey, I've decided to build my own carputer instead of using my old laptop. Before I start, I was wondering if there were any sound cards that had high enough quality outputs that I could run the amplifiers off of their output rather than the HU? If it helps, I was thinking of going with this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811144232 I want that one because the color matches the interior of my truck.
  10. I understand about the big gap thing. But a black pickup with 3 inches suspension lift and 2" body with 33" X 14.5" really scares people. Of course, since I don't have audio, pipes help too. I give tailgaters some leniance, but when I can no longer see their headlight lenses in my rearview, they get to hear my pipes rumble. I give them two warnings, but one is usually enough.
  11. Unless he's changed his mind, Steve has said before that he will not wall the hoe. EDIT: I stupidly forgot to congratulate Steve. Congrats on the rebuild. It must have been tough deciding to do it. I et it will be much louder now! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif LOL, I just imaged Steve pulling a hairtrick on a person whose standing 1-2 feet away.
  12. Would it be worth it to use my current laptop as my carputer? I have a Compaq Presario V6120US. Is there some sort of add on sound card that will get me some good sound quality? Or should I build a new one?
  13. I hardly burn cd's anymore (carputer to be going in when I get a screen), but I use to use Roxio MusicLab 9 and Itunes.
  14. You could put captains seats in the back of an extended cab. You would have to drill a few new holes, but it's doable. I'd say you could get a good 6 or 7 cubic feet.
  15. Try these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11757_Crunch+P900.4.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18718_...ek+SM4-800.html I've used maxxsonics products (both are manufactured by maxxsonics under different names, but are essentially the same). I have a Crunch amp that works great. But these are by no means the only options. There are lots that are better, but these are very good for the price.
  16. Are you kidding, just put it on a sony amp Xplod 800W. It'll go poof at the same time as the amp. Which shouldn't be long.
  17. I was hoping you would miss that. LOL. J/k. I can understand one or two mistakes from time to time. But I've seen some grammar and spelling so horrible, I couldn't understand it even with a translation.
  18. you misspelled POST! You didn't capitalize. And you're talking about proper grammar? LOL, that's funny.
