  1. Lol cant believe I left that out, they are 18" Q's. Both subs are dual 2 ohm, after wiring them I measured the resistance at 1.4 ohms or .7ohms per amplifier.
  2. No vids yet. I just moved to Phoenix and don't know of any good areas to let loose and take a vid, first time in a larger city, kinda paranoid about theft.
  3. About a year ago I put a wall in my civic. Not long after I finished, another semester of college began and I was much to busy to post anything about the install. Eventually enough time passed and I all but forgot about the smd forums. After recently moving I went to clean up my bookmarks and rediscovered the website that was the inspiration that led to my install. Even though the install isn't as great or as clean as so many on this forum, I figured I would post a couple pics because Steve and this forum were much of the reason I turned car audio into a major hobby in the first place. First a couple pics of the car, a 2006 Civic. A pic of my first build involving a 2004 15" xxx. The xxx was in my old car for over a year but only lasted a couple months in the Civic before I blew a tinsel lead. Cleaning up the old install with a sawzall lol. The only pic I can find of my wall build, not exactly a thing of beauty. And the end result of my efforts. Kind of wish I took more pics building it up, but at the time I was focused on finishing it asap before another semester of school began. Each subwoofer is powered by a Elemental Design nine.1 at .7 ohm, and to supply power I have a 200 amp Iraggi alt and an Optima blue top. The box is about 6.5-7ft^3 per chamber and is tuned to ~30hz with about 150 in^2 of port. I am now also running a set of xxx components powered by a RF t3002. Not sure how loud it would meter as I have never had access to a TL (no shops that I knew of had a TL in Alaska). Now that I'm in Arizona I will probably hit that audio show in Gilbert on the 27th and find out what it meters. TBH I would guess it at around a 146-147 and would be happy with that, hell its more than loud enough to me, even after a year of rocking the setup. Though after I graduate college and get a job I'd like to turn the vehicle into a project car, new subs, more power, replace the ac with an alt etc .
  4. Started off with a couple 12" Rockford HX2s, I thought they were the loudest thing ever back then. Wish I still had them to compare with what I have now lol.
  5. I live in Palmer, Alaska which is just a little north of Anchorage.
  6. Nothing like waking up in the morning to find your car like this. So wish I had a garage.
  7. Yeah those things happen, especially things getting shipped to Alaska, those shippers are never kind with my audio equipment :'(. No big deal really, it just pushed me to upgrade to bigger and better equipment which is a good thing ;D.
  8. Yeah everything was hooked up fine, sub was at 4ohms and ground was good. Ended up strapping two ed nine.1's after that and had no problems, didnt change the ground location or anything.
  9. Saw a couple people mention Hifisoundconnection. Bought a PG x1200.1 from them and when I hooked it up it would go into protect occasionally, couple days later after installing it stopped working altogether. They never responded to my emails and their phone # doesnt seem to work. Needless to say I wouldnt bother with them again.
  10. Wish I was somewhere warmer right now. Winters in alaska suck :'( , though I'd rather be nowhere else in the summer .
  11. Thanks for the tips, hadnt thought of using halogen lamps but that should work great. The fiberglass is going to be used to join the top of my wall to the sides and follow the contour of the cars roof for a little extra airspace. Couldve used some mdf I guess, but I was out and had a ton of leftover fiberglass materials that I'm probably not gonna make much use of.
  12. Now that finals are over with I can finally get to work on my new install. Part of the install requires some fiberglassing, and I've never done any of that in cold weather before. Ill be doing the work in my garage which is kept at a little above 40 degrees which is warm enough for me but is much colder than the 70 degrees that the directions recommend. Anyone got some tips for fiberglassing at these temperatures? I cant wait til spring/summer, I'm already having bass withdrawals lol.
  13. The next GTR is being released in the US, so it wont cost any extra to import it.
  14. Not sure where all this crazy skyline pricing is coming from. (Taken off of Nissans Website) The new Skyline retails from 2,793,000 yen (MRSP) to 3,801,000 yen nationwide. Converting that to dollars thats only $23,843-$32,448. I would prefer the skyline, the interior looks way more comfortable than the corvette. Edit: My bad, the new GTR is actually supposed to be about $65,000, pretty close to the vette.
  15. Not a whole lot of interest in big systems up here in Alaska. Every time I'd tell someone I had an Resonant engineering xxx they would look all confused. And I dont expect that to get any better with my 2 18" Q's lol. Though when I ordered the Q's, scott told me there were other people up here buying stuff, even BTL's, wish I knew who they were.
