  1. I figured I'd post this here since a lot of ya'll are from Texas. Anyway, my wife and I have seriously been thinking about our future and if we want to stay in Kansas or not. We've done quite a bit of looking around at some different states and Texas has caught our eyes, mainly the Denton and Sanger area. The main reason we're looking at this area is because Sanger has a Wal-Mart Distribution Center and there would be a good possibility for me to transfer there. I'm going back to school and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting into the medical field. My wife is also in the medical field (administrative, not patient care) and will be done with school next spring. This area is about 6 hours away from where we live now, so it's still fairly close to family. We've found quite a lot of fairly cheap housing too. So my question is, what's it like living in Texas? We went to San Antonio for vacation a few weeks ago and loved it. We are looking at just a few years as we get our house remodeled and my wife finishes up school, but I want to do as much research as I can beforehand. I think the biggest shock would be moving from a town of only around 3,000.
  2. Nope. They have single 4 ohm coils.
  3. I was looking at Audiopipe, but the smallest one I can find does 600 watts at 2 ohms. That's double what I need and I don't feel comfortable putting that much power to the subs. I'm needing 300 watts at 2 ohms.
  4. Nothing against used, but I'd prefer new.
  5. I'm in the market for a decent budget amp. I don't want to spend more than $150, but would lke to keep it closer to the $100 range. I need something that does around 300 watts at 2 ohms (99% sure I'm going with a pair of Tang Band 8's; the regular ones, not the Neos). Here's a list of the ones that I've been looking at: MB Quart FX1.400 MTX RFL300D Phoenix Gold RSd 300.1 Pioneer GM D7500M Clarion XR2110 The MB Quart is the cheapest one of these, followed by the Phoenix Gold. The MTX, Pioneer and Clarion are all the same price. I found all these at Sonic Electronix. Do any of these look good or does anyone have any other suggestions? The only brand out of these that I've had experience with is MTX. I used to run a RFL600D and it was great (also used a lot of their equipment 10+ years ago and it never let me down).
  6. We've been pretty lucky here. There's only been one fatality fire in our district that anyone can remember (and we have one member that's been on the department for almost 40 years), and that was because he sat the house on fire and then laid down on the couch to die. It's always something that I worry about, though. I'm not sure how or if I'd be able to handle anything with kids involved.
  7. You can use it to run two different computers while using one keyboard, monitor and mouse (K-keyboard, V-video or visual display unit, M-mouse). I don't know if you can run them at the same time, like a side by side type of thing on the monitor, but you can switch back and forth between them (I had it set to switch by pushing the Scroll Lock twice). I had originally bought this so I could have another computer to put all my pictures and videos on, but it crapped out on me and I don't know how to fix it (the computer broke, not this switch, LOL).
  8. Selling a used Trendnet 2 port USB KVM switch. It was only used for a couple of months. Includes all cables and instructions. Looking for $20 shipped to the CONUS only. Will trade for a 8 GB or larger SD card.
  9. Honestly, if I could do things over again, I would have probably joined the military. I think it would have done me a lot of good.
  10. I've thought about trying it out, but just can't bring myself to spend the money on it.
  11. I think he forgot to put a decimal point in there somewhere.
  12. Give me the funds and I will. I really don't show my system off except on teh interwebs, but I want to try something I've never done before (3 or 4 subs, a 15", etc).
  13. Yeah, I'm trying to decide if I should just flip a coin. I really don't want a downgrade from what I have now (with the exception of enclosure size), so I'm kind of worried I'll be disappointed.
  14. Just wondering if I'm the only one that has such a hard time deciding what setup to go with? I'm trying to come up with plans for a summer build. Just when I think I've made up my mind, I have a new idea and end up starting all over. So now I've got three or four different plans and I just can't seem to decide on one. Anyone else ever have this problem?
  15. I always kick myself for not taking guitar lessons. I do think I could be a very good singer, but I can't even bring myself to sing in front of my wife, let alone take singing lessons. My dad's sisters (all 4 of them) are excellent singers and I think that I inherited that talent from them. I can carry a tune, but most of the time I'm even too embarrassed to sing when nobody's even around (stupid, I know).
  16. Always sad to hear news like this. I hope things end up working out for them.
  17. My back pain is from an old trampoline injury. I'll definitely be checking out all options. We'll probably be shopping for a while.
  18. I've read pros and cons about both (or all three if you count something like the Sleep Number). I think it mainly comes down to personal preference. I think we're gonna go look tomorrow. Not sure how much longer I can take this poor sleeping crap.
  19. Lately my wife and I have noticed that we've been getting pretty bad sleep. I wake up sore and tired every morning, and I think it's more than old age. Our mattress is at least 5 years old (probably close to 7) and is an innerspring with a pillow top. From what I've been reading, our mattress is probably at the end of its life. This would explain to me why both of us toss and turn, wake up multiple times a night and have trouble getting to sleep. I've suffered from back problems for the last 12 or 13 years. I have been doing some research and am looking into maybe getting either a memory foam or latex mattress. Does anyone have any experience with either of these types of these mattresses?
