baskets do no come with recones for 1. second, instead of going through all that trouble, i would just buy a new basket which arent expensive at all, and just take the basket that is on it right now off and trash it.
edit: no you dont need a new basket to do a recone, you just need to clean the surfaces in which glue does down on to bare metal (shiny silver).
-
looks like someone used screws to hold the spider down during gluing, and since that is the same basket as the VVX8, those are to hold down the spiders. On the vvx8 the spiders are spaced and the screws hold the spider down when gluing. So yes, you can remove them. but i cant suggest anything since i dont truly know how stiff they are.
-
side shot with the view of the spider would be nice.

is it me or do the subs look like they arent firing at the same time?
I was wondering the same thing cause that passenger side one is barely moving.Maybe their loading differently due to port placement.Either way their shaking the crap out of everything.
it is the camera angle, because i have seen it before too, and then checked. but they could also slightly be off because the amps are not strapped. but they move the same amount, it is just that one is closer to the camera than the other.
in person they both move about 1.5in to 2in peak to peak, but in the video it looks like the second one is barely moving. i guess it is my camera.

sorry, didnt catch the missing words in the name... lol. oh well, slams none the less.

just email rusty, or give him a call.
I'm guessing he's the owner? I'm sure he'll have insite but not all of it. Performance varies user to user and I'm looking for other people's experience.
Rusty's input would be great though.
yeah, rusty flowers
he has used 4 5ks in his astro on i think 16v (maybe mid 15s) after drop on 12 m2 level 4s, i bet he has some incite on what they can do.

i vote for 1 8in type r on 400 watts with a set of kicker coaxials off of factory HU power.

would also be cool to have like a RF sound van kinda deal, a demo monster than sounds good, gets loud, and is eye candy.
-
some of those are good some seem like they might be cheating but for the most pretty awesome
typical. you dont ever think that they record for a month or so, and compile hours and hours of video into 5 minutes? oh wait... that is what they do, that is why it takes people who make montages a good while to release new ones, because they take weeks of recording to get their 30 lucky or good timed clips. not saying this guy does it but all the gearsopedia BS is pretty much that, and a lot of cod shit too.

i dont usually buy my music, but for someone like psyph, ill pay the money for it.
ordered mine, cant wait to get it.

kenwood excelons have usb, 3.5mm aux jack, ipod cord on the back, and 6 channel RCA outs. plus they arent very pricey and have 4v preouts.

Kicker doesn't need breakin, the suspension isn't stiff enough in the first place. Subs with multiple stiff spiders might need a little freeairing

i would but some foam tape one the edge of the window and the window frame so that when you close the windows its foam on foam and the lock for the window would hold tighter.
the lock is loose and rattles, and the loading pressure is too much for the window anyway and bends the corners away.
-
Even after walling it it will still do it.. Trust me I know
Your back window will start doing it next
after this set up, i will reinforce the back, it already makes a woofing sound on some notes. but will that adhesive hold?

How can I find out more information about DC subs Level 3 10"s? Namely, what gauge wiring do they accept? How do I know what color is DC going to be appear on the dustcap? Can I order direct? If so how do I contact them? Thanks appreciate it!
the push terminals accept 10 gauge wire
they ask you what dustcap color you want or you can ask for a black bubble rather than the flat style you are used to seeing
you order direct usually, unless there is a close dealer
number is posted above, call place order, wait, done.

got some loctite premium construction adhesive, in a caulk like tube. Think that will do the job? never have worked with the stuff.
-
ttt, going to home depot today, what is a good brand of adhesive that will hold for EVER.
-
i dont know what your all freaking out about. to me it seems like he was just asking whats out there. not how they sound or how loud they get. and im pretty sure he got his answer and is making his own decision. so IMO thread completed. so what is the use of pointing out how this thraed is dangerous and might get locked
no one is.

Nothing wrong with w7's, I could have bought fi or dc but chose w7's because i like them and they dont need to diss other brands to be successful.lol lost half my resale value
and my guess is the guy that made the fi one is running one of the big mainstream subs soloX, w7, type r, ect
other brands dont need to diss to be successful, the people buying do that. Plus most would rather not pay ~700 bucks for a 13w7 when you could get a DC level 5 18, 3 SA 15s, or anything like that
-
why not an sa-15 or something like that? Does it have to be an 18. I can tell you from experience the sa will take that 1700 all day clean power
Would it be any louder than what i got now? 1 earthquake DBXI 15 on 600watts in a 4cubed box tuned to 32hz
1 15 in the right box on 1700rms, like the zv3, level 4 m2, ssa icon, etc. will blow away that earthquake on 600 watts. I bet you could wire the amp to 1 ohm with one of the subs mentioned and be blown away.
what is your port area btw?
-
or a dc
Level 4 or 5?
The Q and the DC work in larger enclosures ( about 6 cubes and above) the Zv.3 works in 4-5 cubes that's a big difference when lacking space, if going with those other brands better a couple of 12s which will fit in 4.5-5 cubes comfortably but two subs will cost more and need more power.
where did you hear this? have you used them in smaller than recommended enclosures?
yes they work in larger enclosures but can perform extremely well in small enclosures too. level 5 18s can be ran down to 5.5 cubes if paired with the right power levels. I ran one in 5.5 and it worked wonderfully, just 3k wouldnt really move it too much.
edit: with only 1700 rms and 6 gross, i would look into lower powered 18s in the 1000rms range so the extra power in the smaller box. Getting an XL or level 5 would be pointless anyway on that power in around 5-5.5 cubes.
Yes you have a point there, i was looking at the Audio Que HD318. rated at only 1000 watts, not too bad?
except AQ does like BIG boxes for the most part, so running under 6.5cubes could be an issue, i would pm ami customs, he has ran AQ 18s for quite sometime and knows a good amount about what they like and dont like.

Good info, I vote for this to be pinned, lot of people think clamping is the and all be all method.
