  1. I'm unsure why no one has said anything about running your bass boost on your deck 15/15. I never and mean never run my bassboost more than 25% of max. Let the amp door the work and stop trying to overdrive it with the headunit. One of the largest misused settings and biggest killer of coils.

Now as to your current issue. Did you take pictures of the recone broken still in the motor? Before gutting it? I know you say you fixed it 3 times but I really dont see that amount of glue on the spider nor ring? Im not saying you didnt, maybe you used small beads I dont know. Call the shop and we can chat.

    Next....

On to the xl build what you got in mind?

If Op and I are on the same page,

Then that's not bass boost, but sub level. On almost every alpine and I believe some kenwoods, you need to turn the sub level to 15/15 to get full RCA voltage out.

my previous alpine had that. 15/15 sub level and no clippage.

  2. I dont think they would have to be waterproof though, they are batterys, they are made to withstand the engine compartment.

it is the wires and such that i dont want ridiculous amounts of moisture to get to. I was thinking a MDF box coated with a bed liner style material or covered in resin. If course matched later, rubber grommets etc. Just wondering if anyone has done one or seen one. And getting a bed cover is out of the question.

  3. why not just put the batteries in your tool box?

umm... cause i actually use tools in my tool box, i have the factory jack, my craftsman set, ropes, straps, etc. It is FULL. not to mention i dont want to put holes in my tool box.

edit: batteries are 9in tall, 13in long, and 7.5in wide
