also, anyone know a price quote of the SMD18? (me like) also i will contact AA.
-
hmmm id choose the hotter 18yr old....wait what was the question
-
this is an opinionated thread so you are going to hear tons of different options...
here is mine....
biggest question is are you going for overall quality of sound, or for spl?
If you are looking for clean, reliable, almost bulletproof performance... I have an SMD 18 in my dodge ram right now and clamped it at 1500 watts and did a 148dB... plays from 20hz to 75hz with not an issue in the world, and it would love to have more power on it...
spl... different situation...
im a groundpounder low tuning kind of guy. Numbers are fun but in reality, air movement and brutal lows is what i LOVE. I like the idea of the SMD too, does it like smaller enclosures? (i have about 11cubes to work with hehe)

thanks again.
-
Might even try a dp21. How many cubes does it need
-
your avatar is dc? if you don't have a budget get a lvl 6 and a dc 7.5k and let it rip.
That could be an option but major electrical upgrades will need to be done. The xl 18 has really gotten my attention along with the crossfire xsv2
-
buy them all then test which one sounds best
Would if i could
-
There might be a few of threads like this but I want to ask. What are some good 18s on the market right now that can handle and do well on 2-3k rms? Box size is irrelevant and so is budget
-
coils read .2 to .1 off usually, and there can be internal resistance in a dmm. When i put the positive and negative prongs together it reads 1.1 ohms. So when i wire to 2 ohms, it will say 3.1 ohms. fyi

ok cause i was looking around the site, and thought it was just someone doing reviews, thanks again.

http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/products/mlv
mlv is to stap air born noise
and the foam is to stop rattles
deadener is to stiffen and add weight to reduce resonance freq
thanks man.
havent really been able to find anywhere that sells Vinyl Nitrile CCF, but would one of these be comparable to it(a substitute)?
you mean this?

mlv and real foam sheets are how you stop rattles, deadener is not for that
mlv?
-
deadener, foam, hell even tape sometimes...i dont have alot of rattle from the plastics, my rear window and its broken window track is kinda annoying though
X2 on foam. Dynamat and other company's make a closed cell foam that works well for this application
expanding foam, or the actual foam?
and i cant screw the panels back on or anything like that, because my truck is in suck nice condition (i refuse to f*** up how it looks.

i have been reading on how to set the amp gain using a multi meter and the test cd but i have read three different thing 40,50,and 60hz what one do i use to set the sub-woofer amp gain.
most i have heard of is a 50-60hz sweep
-
ok, and earlier n8 told me about how bad the snaps in the back are and how they basically break no matter what(16yr old plastic). so how would i reattach the panels that do that?
-
How do you keep the inner plastic panels from rattling, its not really because of the metal flexing, its the pressure in the back from the port up. The B-pillars, back of the cab that i think has 4x6s in it, sound like there slapping on certain hard hitting notes. If i have to take them off thats fine but i want to know a little before i go into it.

Or trim the 1/0 down
-
You can most likely run up to 1krms on stock electrical with no issues of voltage drop.
-
does she come with the batteries we buy nate?
x2
-
would love SOTM votes, 2.4k on stock = no good.
-
i just insta-jizzed
-
