  1. So say for example a kicker cvx15 box is built towards the compact (smaller) size of the recommended specs tuning low like 32hz or high like 36hz make it peaky? Which way the lower or the highest? Sorry if i still cant quite understand.
  2. Do you know what is the method, rule, or just how do you come up with the right port area using air displacement and tuning? For example a sub like a kicker cvx 15 or skar 15 vvx or sa 15 how do i go about determining what to use? By peaky do you mean around the tuning or where?
  3. Whats the difference if 2 boxes were say 4 cubes with a tuning of 32hz, same subs same power, but one with 16 inches of port area per cube and the other with 12 inches of port per cube?
  4. I usually do 15 or 16 inches of port per cube. Was wondering for future box building use, what to use for port area since ive never figured out what this rule of thumb is really about or means i just use it since its recommended. Can anyone explain it? for example when it concerns subs like kicker cvx, L7, skar, sundown sa stuff like that. Thanks im really into being loud but sounding very clean as well and hitting all of the higher bass frequencies as well if this has any affect or whatever on port area.
  5. I used to own a pair of AQ sdc 15 ran like 750rms to each and i use to give them hell and they took it nicely. One thing though is that they do like big boxes so whatever sdc you get your box will be on the bigger side vs other subs. Dont have experience with the pb so i wont comment on that.

  7. Also have 1 15 skar in a girls car sounds great and pounds but she listens to music full blast everyday on rap rock and spanish and i would not give this sub more than rated continously every day and for hours. Although i have a box built on the larger side which is 3.5 cubes net and tuned high at 35hz so im sure if i make her one built around 3 cubes net i can feed it around 750rms? Remember she and when i have the car listens to music full blast love bumping all kinds of stuff and for long periods of time. Im running about 600 rms after i recently sold my jl audio amplifier. Love the sub and in my opinion the rating on it is very true.
  8. Can you post a pic of the audiopipe 0 gauge like side by side to another brand to compare. Thats a interesting price if its good wire and not CCA
  9. Go to ebay there are some good trusted sellers there like vminnovations.
  10. Had both the ap and hifonics. Get the audiopipe at about 145 it cant be beat. Will sound the same as the hifonics 1200 with only a slight more power with the ap but nothing that will be that noticeable at all. Have mines running for 2 years now never gets hot.
  11. Im looking for very loud output not really care for mid bass since the sub can handle the 80hz down. I need very loud midrange and highs like obnoxiously loud and ive always heard the infinity jbl brand are both geared towards being very sensitive and loud.
  12. Im looking for a pair of 6.5 coxial speakers for an upcoming build that i want very loud in the mid high area. I currently own a jbl power comps set in one ride and i love the loudness of the set and the sq so as you can see im not very picky on the brand i just want it very loud and very efficient set. Im looking at the 3 way set from infinity kappa anyone used these i know for a fact the infinity/jbl brand are known for being very loud and efficient and personally i like the sq. Any one with experience with this set or even the jbl p662 set but i imagine that the 3 way infinity at roughly the same power (100 rms each) will be louder. Also budget is no more than 100 for a pair of 3 way or 2 way coaxial.
  13. For 400 for the audioque used no warranty i say do not do it. The brutus line of hifonics kills the hfi line since it does do rated at 14.4v. You can get the brz2400 off ebay through an authorized seller getting you a 1 year warranty as well for 300 bucks. It will sound the same as the audioque since both can do around 2400 rms and you have a warranty for 100 less.
  14. Wondering if you have tried the AQ 2200 before and compared it to your hifonics 2600. I used to have the aq 1200 for a year and had the hifonics 1600 before it and they were honestly almost the same output with the hifonics being slightly louder. Also i read on here a while back that the aq 2200 and the hifonics 2610 share similar boards so they sound very similar. Just adding this info since im trying to say the hifonics can hold its own with the aq in my experience.
  15. Had both the audopipe 1500(still have for 2 years) and the audioque 1200 for 1 year. Both on the same subs (pair of kickers) same box and truck, both to the ear were the same in loudness with the ap being slightly but not major louder. Point is both amps are the same loudness and go with the ap just because its way cheaper. Its reliable i still have it running for two years never gets hot. Also if you just want to be different go with the onyx mb quart 1500, i might try that in another car soon heard its good.
  16. I understand the tuning is pretty high at 35hz but i dont understand why the sub gets hot at 500rms, where my cvx even at full tilt for much longer will not get as hot on 800rms, it would get really warm but not on the level this skar is getting. I can bump it up to more rms but wouldnt that be dangerous since its getting hot with 500? The jl amp was put in about a month ago to temporarily run the cvx before i got the skar, and it played full tilt without getting the cvx as hot as the skar. The gain was not touched on the jl amp when i swapped to the skar.
  17. I will be updating this review as the sub gets more playing time. Replaced a single 15 kicker cvx wired to 1 ohm on 800rms, in a custom 3.5 cubed net box with 15 inches of port per cube and 35hz tuning. Also replaced the amplifier with a JL audio slash 500/1 to run my skar 4 ohm at 2 ohms. This is my girls setup so since its her car she also gave me her input. This was a direct swap with the cvx 15 just with 500rms now. First impression: The bass is cleaner sounding than the cvx not astronomical but it is enough of a difference that it is noticeable and that was my main objective, getting the sub to sound better than my kicker while keeping the same output. Now as far as loudness/output, the lows like for example the song white girl by young jeezy sounds cleaner on the skar but it is about the same loudness as the cvx which is cool with me but i did kind of expect, like most were saying, that the skar was going to be a lot louder than the cvx which in my case it is not. I banged it about 30 seconds each song on a 10 track cd with some hard hitting rap songs. One thing i noticed is that the skar does not hit the higher notes like say from 42hz to 52hz as loudly as the skar but it does hit cleaner, i kinda was dissapointed in not hitting the higher bass since i know she listens to rock and techno stuff as well but again SQ is better. One weakness im a little afraid of and i hope i can get some of you guys input is that on 500 rms and on my jl audio 500 amp with the gain set right, after i played around 30 seconds each song at full tilt on like 6 songs, i went to the back of the trick, touched the subs center, like where the dustcap is usually, and it was very hot. Now i always check my kickers from the center after heavy playing and at most they were very warm but not hot like the skar. I heard these are supposed to take 1000 with no sweat but now im not sure if its either my box or the sub but with 500rms im getting the center of the sub pretty hot. Some will way to not bang so hard, but i refuse to bang less since full tilt when my girl or me drive to places is what i like so can anybody let me know why the sub gets so hot. My box is 3.5 cubes so is it too big? Overall, my mission was a better sounding sub and it was accomplished even though loudness/output is the same as my kicker cvx.
  18. When you say the sa would be louder, will it be like a night and day difference or insignificant? I just dont want to lose the output of the cvx, i want to gain in clean nice sounding bass and a bonus if i gain output but im not sure given same box same power and stuff i would accomplish that. I guess im going to find out as soon as ups comes next week and i drop it in. Currently have a jl audio 500 to put it on.
  19. Are you running the stock battery? I have a system in my girls car only like 1000rms max on an 02 trailblazer and theres dimming, not huge, but there is which kinda shocked me. Im running knu 4 gauge all around so that shouldnt be the problem. I have not done the big 3 neither but i also have the stock battery. I want to upgrade the stock to 1 beefy one and im hoping that would fix everything. However, even when i have the system off and i push say the unlock/lock doors button, my lights dim as i press each button. Is this a sign of a bigger problem, maybe a bad alternator or bad battery? Sorry if it looks like i stoled your post but i too have a TB and am looking to doing the big 3 as well but it does look like theres a lot of stuff on this truck i even read that theres a manufacture problem with the stock chassis to engine ground that gets corroded pretty fast, her truck is 100,000 miles so maybe thats it my stock ground sucks.
  20. Thanks thats what i was hoping since i always heard that great subs can play lower than their tuning. Just was a little iffy since some companies require you to tune a certain way im just trying to get the optimum level this sub can give and of course i big upgrade from the current kicker cvx 15 in that truck.
  21. Im ready to get that single 15 in a 4 ohm shipped to 90002. Can i get a paypal request.
  22. This setup will go in an 02 trailblazer with an already installed kicker cvx 15 in that custom box. Hopefully i can get some more skar people to comment on this thread today.
  23. Cool im going to ask for a d2 15 and order. Just for kicks as far as sounding better and louder who would get the nod if i were to drop in an sa 15 compared to what im going to drop in, skar 15.
